  1. Lots of good points, but one question: can the bike be pushed up by the inside leg/knee? Don't think this is possible...
  2. Missed the weekend's races, I'll get 'em tonight. Who likes the newer format with the sprint race on the Saturday? (I do!).
  3. GP, pretty good summary! A bonus question for you: why does this technique not work on cruisers?
  4. Thanks Vinny. I don't know my car and truck, which injection type they have...I'll do some research.
  5. OK, there is another fine point on efficiency that can be used, but only on sport bikes (meaning not on a cruiser). That is the Pivot Steering technique. It's in Twist 2, any one care to summarize what it is, and how it would be a benefit?
  6. Anyone confident enough to make some predictions for this year? Will Martin keep it together? Will Peco extend his streak? Does the Yamaha and Quartararo have chance to be a contender?
  7. Looks like we are going to get a rinse repeat for this upcoming school Mar 9-10. Perfect weather, and the class has some room now. There was no wind either, that's always nice. Best Mexican restaurant that's nearby is Zapata's on Craig Rd, near I-15. Outstanding carne asada, and pretty much all else.
  8. Hmmm...good point on the foot position. I think if you look at most of the MotoGP guys, you'll see the outside foot wedged on the heel. But moving from side to side? And how about the inside foot? That needs to be back up and out of the way. Any of you internet geniuses (to me that's almost anyone) find some good slow-mo of a MotoGP rider moving in a transition, from side to side? That would be good to see.
  9. more relatable, that's a great way to put it.
  10. First school was just about perfect. Weather was good, track in good shape (and we ran it reverse direction, which worked out well). The real plus of the desert tracks (one of the pluses, like Vegas or Willow Springs) is the weather. We've had more nice days at these tracks, better chance of having a terrific day than just about anywhere. No wind, perfect temp, 2 great days at the track. These bikes are so much fun to ride! Chatting with some of the guys about track miles ridden, and how many miles some of our coaches have (some have literally ridden hundreds of thousands of track miles) and still love it! Part of that is the current bike and tire technology. Stuff that you dreamed about 20 years ago is common today. Good time to be riding bikes.
  11. Thanks for all that, and the picture too!
  12. Interesting to see these comments...and arguably one of the greats.
  13. Yes, book thieves!!!! Bastards (or pals, depending on how it rolls)
  14. So here's what happened: the audio versions of the books are somewhat unknown gold-mines. Keith does read the book to you, but if there had been additional discoveries in the years since the books had been released, he would include that in the audio book. If you know Keith for any length of time, you realize the guy never stops his research. Only a portion is released to the public, and of the material released to the senior coaches, there are still many topics that are in pilot status--meaning, he's still working them over. Right now we are looking at a training evolution (internal) that could change/improve the way we train our coaches...crazy cool, stay tuned!
  15. Dang, I want to find this, I don't think I'm crazy... Not sure on if SR's are in order of difficulty to resolve, good question though. We are prepping for Vegas this weekend, not sure I'll get time to watch Twist 2 DVD, that's where I thought it was brought up. I've got one person, part nerd, I'm gonna ask...
  16. GP, can you elaborate a little more on the ethanol and issues it causes that you have seen...fuel lines destroyed? Also, what does it do to carbs? Don't have much that has carbs, but small engines (chainsaw, shredder, etc.)
  17. Good points all. Does anyone recall, but somewhere Keith mentions an 8th survival reaction...I think it's in the Twist 2 video...anyone know where it is?
  18. Had to look up E0...we don't have it
  19. Excellent responses from you all on this, very good to see. You even went a step past what I'd been thinking of on this personal time point. Let's look at this one piece: if a rider creates more space for himself, can he create more time? Is that a component of any emergency--not enough time? A friend was in a very minor accident in his car, when a bike hit him. He was on a 4-lane street, turned left onto a 2-lane street, and did an immediate right into the first driveway. A rider was followed him when he turned, and tried to pass him on the right (between his car and parked cars), and ran into his car behind the door. 100% fault of the rider (who wasn't badly hurt) and admitted fault. The driver said he never saw the rider, was totally surprised when it happened. The driver admitted, he was a little "short visioned" and sometimes does turn on his turn signal pulling into that driveway, but this time did not (he was a little late for an appt.). This gent is a good driver, and been to the School. He admitted just a little bit more "space" (including behind himself), and he'd have prevented it/seen it coming. Managing one's "time" is quite a skill and art by creating/controlling visually the one's space. One of the best drivers I know is in 70's. I watched him miss another car that cut him off. The 3 passengers with him were all shocked, and "WTF!" He just laughed, he'd seen it coming, and had enough time to dodge the other car. So here's the exercise: experiment with your own "time" by adjusting the space while in motion. Go a little too far in both directions (obviously use a little common sense on this). Keep it simple, and let us know what you notice.
  20. Nice response Hotfoot. The ABS has also improved, I don't even turn it off any more. The electronic aids on these things are pretty impressive.
  21. Got some email a few days ago, and a rider had quit riding, due to "reaction times" lessening. He's 59. I got this and my first answer thought was (no filter), WTF? I don't know this rider, no idea of training, overall pace, where he rode--no info. This email came to me as I was on the way to deliver a seminar on visual skills. Really I think that is where he ran into problems. In the modern era, we're seeing riders fit enough to ride into their 80's at the track. But if the visual skills deteriorate with age (often happens), then the time a rider has to predict what's happening around him, that will surely get less. Let's touch on one component of this: How does a rider make more personal "time" for him/herself to react to what's happening around him? Someone please do chime in on this, I'd like to know what is thought of on this subject.
  22. Pretty good mileage out of that truck! Both Mustang and truck are still getting best ever mileage after the changes.
  23. Sunday Feb 4 I'll be doing a seminar for Doc Wong Riders. There were still some opens spots last time I checked. This is a briefing we give to our Level 4 students, clarifying the 5 visual faults and how they relate to each other, as well effect riders. 9am-11 am; Full Motion Chiropractic 1021 Alameda Belmont, CA 94002 (650) 365-7775 If you are interested in attending, email docwong@aol.com No Charge. Best, Cobie Fair
  24. Liqui Moly use in my personal cars: You'd expect me to have a biased opinion, but I can say this factually: A number of us at School pay retail to run LM in our personal vehicles. I just took a trip to NM from Calif in my 2010 GMC Sierra truck. Right before we left, did an oil change, and added the fuel treatment (for trucks, with larger gas tanks). If I get 18mpg in that truck, that's very good. I got over 19mpg. Just changed the oil in my '06 Mustang, added the Ceratech. Best mileage I've gotten on that car too. Mixed mileage part fwy, part city driving, 18mpg is reasonable. Got over 19. This isn't a long-term test yet, but I track every tank, with both vehicles, got a pretty solid idea of their mileage. I'd also noticed that oil consumption is down in the Mustang. Both my vehicles have lot so of use. The truck has almost 300k, the Mustang has 130k. This product line just looks outstanding.
