  1. Yes I had a great weekend and can't say enough about the tires.
  2. Thank you, I am pretty excited since its only my 5th race weekend.
  3. All I can say is wow! The new Power one DOT's are amazing! The front is way better than the old and I couldn't seem to break the back end loose with my 750
  4. Road race southwest Round 1 Firebird Raceway East Track 1/25/09 Race Report Sean Gallian #34 The first round in 2009 proved to be a pretty good one for me. I ended the weekend with two podiums and a great race in Unlimited GP beating a handful of experts but missing the podium by two spots. Unlimited Supersport: Race 1 I got a pretty good start in this race but was beat on the brakes going into turn 1 so I had some work to do to catch my competitor who was on a ZX10. There were 3 lead changes between Kale Dankenbring and I. I passed him on the brakes going into turn 1 on the third lap and then I led for a couple laps and then he got me back in the carousel. We battled for 2 more laps and I couldn’t find a place to pass him until there were 2 laps left where I again passed him on the brakes but this time it was going into turn 10. At that time I thought I could hold him off the rest of the race and I did hold him off until we exited turn 10 headed for the finish line and the power of his ZX10 overmatched my 750 and he beat me by no more than a foot or two. This was my first second place finish so it was definitely bittersweet. Unlimited GP: Race 2 I enter this race with the understanding that it is not an Amateur/Expert split race so I am racing against everybody in the field and hopefully I can gain experience and lower my lap times. I did run my best lap ever at Firebird east at 59.6 and I finished 5th while beating a few experts in this race. I felt pretty good about holding off a couple of the very fast experts for a lap or two. I was pretty happy with my finish in this race buy my goal is to get a third place finish in this race before the end of the year. Unlimited Superbike: Race 3 I was gridded in the 6th row in this race and I got an amazing start. When the green flag dropped I found myself passing people left and right and found myself up with the guys who were gridded in the 2nd row. It is safe to say that this was the best start I have ever gotten and by getting an awesome start I put the rest of the amateur field quite a ways back having to get around some experts to catch me. I found myself chasing down an expert for the rest of the race but I never got close enough to attempt a pass. With 2 laps left I looked back and realized that the rest of the amateur field was almost a half a lap back so I dialed it down a bit just to make sure I finished the race without incident. When I crossed the finish line I was very ecstatic that I had captured the first victory of my career with many more to come. I would like to thank all my sponsors including Michelin, the Mad Hatter, Adrenaline motorsports, Motorex, Vortex, Woodcraft, Scorpion, and Pit-bull stands. I would especially like to thank Gianni for getting me the set of tires that I needed and aiding me throughout the weekend to ensure that I had a successful weekend. Thank you Road Race southwest for putting on another great weekend and ongoing series.
  5. It really depneds on what tires you are running. I know that Hubbard has Pilot Powers on his bike so the tire pressures between that and the Dunlop Ntec slicks I am running are very different. Roger at Arroyo Seco raceway recommended 24 psi in the front for me and 26 in the rear when hot. I hear that if you use nitrogen to inflate your tires you get alot less heat expansion too.
  6. Well I have an o6 636 with stock suspension htat handles great! I also have an 04 GSXR 750 with upgraded front and rear suspension and set up perfectly by Roger at ArroyoSeco raceway and I would have to say that I prefer the handling of the 636 hands down compared to my GSXR
  7. Well I tried it last weekend at Arroyo Seco Raceway in New Mexico and at first they felt weird but after Roger (the track owner) helped me a bit with the suspension it was freakin awesome. The bike was very stable in corners and had lots of grip. The track is at 4000+ ft elevation so it was hard to tell if the bike felt lethargic due to tire weight. All in all I would recommend it and was very happy with the change to the larger tire. Oh and I would tell you guys the exact settings for my new setup but Roger said it is top secret. LOL! I will just tell you that we dropped the front end signifigantly and raised the rear end a tad.
  8. I appreciate everyone's input. I have decided to give it a try in September when I can get on the track again. I also spoke with Jim Cox who is a Dunlop vendor and he recommended the change and he said that I would like the outcome. He did recommend that I gear down a little to compensate for the change in tires because the dunlops are very heavy tires compared to other tires.
  9. I just got home and looked at the profile and it is a 195/65 if that helps at all
  10. I got to experience my first highside a few weeks agon and let me tell ya it doesn't feel good. I got on the gas a little too har a little too early. It looked identical to Lorenzo's except is was a right turn for me.
  11. I have been noticing that all of the guys here in Phoenix are running 190's and 195's on their 600's with the stock 5.5 inch rim. I have quite a few sets od very good Dunlop Ntec 195 rear and 125 fronts that I am contemplating trying out on my GSXR 750. What I know= I know that the profile of the tire is going to change because its a wide tire on a skinny rim. = I have heard that this will distort the tire and the enhanced contact patch will not really help if the tire is distorted. = I know that the bike is going to handle heavier but the track I am using them on this weekend is a very fast track and is not technical What I want to know= will the enhanced contact patch really help if it is on the 5.5 rim? = what are some other issues that may arise because of this change. Thanks in advance
