  1. Glad to provide feedback, I think I speak for everyone when I say this day is a fantastic way to compliment the regular school training days without any other distractions. I think these will be very popular and welcome if they are regular. All the best Russ.
  2. What a great afternoon! I attended the first 'off track' training day held at Silverstone with CCS yesterday. The training is available to those who have completed level 2 and above, lasts about 5 hours and allows dedicated time to experience some of the rigs such as the "No B/S Bike", "Brake Rig" and "Lean/Slide bike" as well as nice riding techniques like how to downshift more effectively and a refresher on steering, things you don't always have time or space to do or explore further during normal school days. The slide bike is the most exiting and probably the main reason most attended, its a thrill to get the back end lit up and lets you experience a slide and how to recover in relative safety, but the other drills all teach something you will use in everyday riding. I learned something valuable from every drill. I thought the whole day ran smoothly and worth it, (slide bike was a bottleneck, buts this was first time off track training has been run, I'm sure they will work that kink out. I hope CSS are planning to continue this on a regular basis. Other students will love it, its a worthwhile way to cap off the training levels. £75 - worth every penny! And thanks to all the instructors who gave their time for free.
  3. Thanks for explaining Andy. There's no problem we still covered all L3 theory and drills (which are worth there weight in gold!), but after the format of the previous two levels I was not expecting a L2 refresher at the same time. Now I understand, it makes sense, especially if its been a while since L2. And if I think of it we got some unexpected 'additional value' Take care! I'm looking forward to doing L4. Russ
  4. I've just finished level 3, the drills and track work were very good, however we were mixed with L2 students and sat through L2 theory before we had a quick session on a static bike to explain our L3 drill. Is this normal?
  5. Mostly street riding Round town clutch up and down Moderate to hard riding, no clutch up, clutch, blip throttle to change down Hard to extreme riding, clutch up most of the time and clutch, blip throttle to change down
  6. Fresh from finishing L1 & 2 last week, i'm booked onto L3 on July 16. Anyone else here doing the same? Russ
  7. How did your Level 2 go?? Chris. You will love level 2, I found it compliments L1 really well, allowing to you exploit what you did in L1 further. I just signed up for L3 on the 16th July. Might see you there? Russ
  8. The same rules apply. As this sequence of corners doesn't actually need any brakes in most cases you just need to roll out of the throttle, turn and apply the rule. Bullet Thanks Bullet, I appreciate the advice.
  9. What about my line and my big darkies from the R1.. LOL... Well the instructors aside . Y'all just seamed to go where you liked and make it look fast and easy! I do have a question though. In 2 corners that string together, where the second starts and changes direction as the first ends (like the 'S' bends before the last corner at stow), what's the best throttle control technique at the transition between the two? Russ
  10. Hi Darren, thanks for the reply and great to hear from you, I enjoyed your company and you had one of the best lines through the last turn of anyone i saw all day. I'll be booking on level 3 in August at Silverstone. Take care and ride safe. BF PS. The the 6 foot rule did grab my attention like using "no brakes" during the drill
  11. Hi Chris, I think we may have spoke yes. Coming from up north originally before i moved 'darn sarf', I most likely gave directions to A1. What bike did you have? Did you do L2 also?
  12. Hi Dan, welcome to the forum, i'm new here myself so still finding my way around and making new friends. Awesome bike, i'd be looking at one of those or the BMW S1000 if i was buying today... I've just done L1&2 and its well worth doing. You dont have to do them consecutively, but i was glad i did, L2 really does enhance L1. Good luck matey!
  13. Hi Everyone, I've just completed L1 & 2 at Silverstone in the UK on Monday and Tuesday earlier in the week. I really enjoyed it and learned more about cornering in 2 days than in the 35 years previous riding. Highly recommended, but you all know that. I will be doing L3 & 4 next. I don't have any immediate questions, still trying to soak it all in and put it all into practice. If anyone I spoke to on the days has also joined this forum please feel free to PM me, my name is Russ and rode a Blue 09 R1. Look forward to using this forum.
