  1. I attended the 2-Day CSS in Vegas on Apr. 13-14, 2013, and had an AWESOME time! It's definitely a humbling experience when you see how you're "not that great" of a rider on the track when you believe you're a "very good rider" on the street. I learned so much in these two days, and I know the education and knowledge gained will help me make the most of riding in general, but even more so for trackdays that I do on my own and/or with my buddies. I also plan to take more CSS courses in the near future. Now that I've graduated from Levels 1 & 2, my goal is to take Levels 3 & 4 as soon as possible. Currently on the Wait List for May 2013 dates at NJMP. THANK YOU! to all of the CSS coaches, staff, personnel, everybody!!! You guys and gals were friendly, engaging, knowledgeable, honest, helpful, and all-around nice! I'm sure I can come up with more, but you get the picture. I had the privilege of meeting so many wonderful people at CSS Vegas, including but not limited to: Keith Code (Father of CSS) Cobie (Forum Administrator and my buddy's awesome coach for Days 1 & 2 / Levels 1 & 2) Gerry (my awesome coach for Day 1 / Level 1) Brian (my awesome coach for Day 2 / Level 2) Dylan (Coach and Son of the Father of CSS) Trevor (Course Overlord) Pete Mike Will (Chief Mechanic...keeping bikes ready-to-go) J.T. Lyle Jason Chris James Jessica (Administrator...thanks for fitting me into the proper gear) Missy (Administrator...thanks for chasing me back into the classroom or out onto the track) If I missed anyone, please accept my sincere apologies, as each and every one of you helped educate me on being a better rider. Thanks and see you at the next CSS! GixerEd1 Edmund H. White #24 NY PS: Having problems uploading pics...will keep trying.
  2. I'm currently taking the 2-Day at Vegas Motor Speedway, and I recommend you trying to get into the NJMP (USA) area as early as possible. I flew out of NYC the Friday before Day 1 and ran into many probelms with bad weather, cancelled flight, and a broken plane...all before leaving the tarmac. I was nervous that I would not make it out if NYC and missing CSS. Unless CSS can fill your spot (on such short notice?!), you will lose your tuition paid. Not a small amount of money. Other than that, get there and enjoy!!! I am!!!!!!!!
  3. Thanks ScrmnDuc! Still haven't decided on what to bring along with me to Vegas CSS, but definitely thinking about the things you and others have said/recommended. Will report back after my CSS course.
  4. Thanks for all the advice, much appreciated!
  5. Thanks Hotfoot. Haha, I've got my work cut out for me, and I haven't even gotten to the track yet.
  6. Thanks warregl, sounds like very good advice. Have to run back to the shop again to try on the suits with the chest/back protectors, AND sit AND hang off the bike a bit to see which size fits and feels better. Can maybe order both sizes and return the one that doesn't fit/feel as well, but not sure if STG or Revzilla or some other shop would like me doing that.
  7. Hi anthem. I've read about people hopping into the shower with a new suit and how that supposedly helps the suit stretch/shrink where needed, but I've gotten leather wet before and it wasn't a good thing - leather cracking and discoloring, getting smelly. With sweat, I would hope the liner, plus the undersuit I would also wear, will minimize the effects to the leather itself. I think I will just wear the suit around the house and watch ESPN for a few hours. And the several fridge runs will help get things in motion as well.
  8. Thanks again anthem! Yeah, I think the 38US is going to be too big too, mainly in length and "looseness" here-and-there. I wouldn't want the armor to move or rotate away if I was to ever go down.
  9. Hi csmith12. Thanks for the response. Yes, I anticipate including back and chest protectors, and maybe padded shorts as well. That is why I wish I tried on the suits with all that included. I may have to run to Revzilla again to try on the suits WITH all that armor/padding included to see whether the 36US or 38US is the better fit. I'm lean and lanky, and tough to fit off-the-rack, so I will start looking into a custom suit, but that may be out of my budget, though many riders say it's money well-spent. Others say to buy off-the-rack and have it "altered" where needed, though I'm nervous about messing with the factory-original stitching.
  10. I'm taking the 2-Day CSS at Vegas in April 2013 and the gear will all be provided. I've been eyeballing some good deals on A-Star 1-piece suits and am wondering which size I should buy. A month ago, I went to Revzilla in Philly to try on some A-Star 1-piece suits - a 36US and a 38US. The 36US fit like second skin, with no loose, folding or flapping leather anywhere. The 38US fit a little looser, with some loose/folding/flapping leather along the legs and arms, plus some roominess in the torso. The 36US was hard to get on, and even harder to get off, even while wearing a liner-suit. The 38US was easier to get on, and was not really hard to get off. Revzilla recommended that I get a 36US because the suit will break-in and stretch where needed, whereas the 38US will never shrink. They said the loose/folding/flapping leather along the legs and arms can catch on the ground and send me tumbling, may wear through quicker at the folds, and the armor may move upon impact and not provide the protection as needed. They also said that if the 38US came off that "easily," then it's definitely too big. I understand and agree with their reasoning, but unfortunately I did not try on the suits with the A-Star Bionic Race Back Protector and Chest Protectors, which would make the suits that much "tigher" than they were without. Truthfully, I believe a 37US would be fit best, if that size existed, but it doesn't. I don't think I can spend the bucks on a custom suit, so one of these off-the-rack suits will have to do. Should I get the 36US or the 38US? Or should I go back to Revzilla to try on the suits again, but with the back/chest protectors in this time? Thanks for your advice and/or opinions! GixerEd1
  11. 3 buddies and I will be taking the 2-Day CSS at Vegas Motor Speedway on Apr. 13-14, 2013. Obviously we are all quite enthused and are counting down the days before we head out to Vegas from NYC. Some of my buddies are wondering if they should bring their own gear to CSS - helmet, gloves, boots, leathers? I know the gear is all included with the 2-day CSS, but some think they will be more "comfortable" in their own gear. I think that's a lot to lug over from NYC to Vegas. What do you guys think? Any other pointers and/or advice to making the most of our 2-Day CSS in Vegas? Thanks! GixerEd1
  12. Hi Everyone! Sounds like you guys had a great experience at the Vegas 2-Day CSS. I am in NYC and will be taking the 2-Day CSS at Vegas on April 13-14, 2013, along with 3 buddies also from NYC. I'm so excited that I'm thinking about registering for Level 3/4 back here at NJMP. Any other pointers or advice, whether related to the track, layout, weather, etc.? Thanks! GixerEd1
