  1. Get on the slide bike! such a great tool. Unlike cars that are wayyy more forgiving in a slide or oops when the traction limit is crossed, i feel there isnt much feedback (noise especially) to be heard from bike tires. To find and feel the slip of the bike tire WITHOUT crossing the line is something special. It was an eye opener when my coach on the slide bike told me- (paraphrasing) ideally, thats what every corner exit should be like! As for the original question of 'off season'.. - Increase physical endurance and core strength. - Have the bike(s) ready for the track long before the event and not the night prior!
  2. Congrats , what an awesome wife indeed! hope to be there and see you there as well. i love seeing and hearing the expressions from first timers when they 'get it'.
  3. I realized that the 'female' machine that most of the guys tend to skip over is actually a good one for us as riders to condition with. You know the one im talking about.. there are actually two- that you sit in and the pads are on either the inner or outer parts of your thighs. Using the 'squeeze' one where the pads are on the inside, it can simulate squeezing on the tank when braking or cornering. It may look wierd to others.. but i'll even lean over to one side and concentrate the squeeze with my outer leg. Weight off the bars right? Other than being on the track..this seems perfect to me!
  4. Last time i was on track i was getting mentally frustrated with my helmet for this reason. I felt my body positioning and flexibility could go further, but i could not, due to the eyeport of my Bell helmet. The lower i went, the less i could see up ahead. Are there known helmets that have larger eyeports than others?
  5. Its Xmas.. and i was just able to finally get the photos from the 2day CSS event this summer. Merry XMas to me! I only wish there was pix of me on the slide bike also. CANT WAIT TO DO IT AGAIN!
  6. Thank you CSS for providing the salt and potassium tablets! I've experienced fatigue and cramping before, but not when hydrating and supplementing with your wonder pills!
  7. Id like to know the science to back the quote. As ANORXIC'51said, cyclling will definitely build the endurance needed in riding lap after lap. I've also seen more pictures of the pro riders cycling than squatting. Not to say either or is wrong or better.. as i do both also, but in my personal experiences i would have to say the cycling trumps lifting for the benefit of riding. Concerning sitting on your junk.. Body positioning?? LOL. They do make seats with cutouts to alleviate that issue though. The general area is sore after a good cycling workout.. but 'the junk', no. Then again.. im Asian
  8. Currently deployed and away from the bikes and tracks.. seems i wont make it back in time before the tracks in my area shut for the season. But to answer the question, YES! I have not yet, but am ready for the added pressures and excitement that an official race brings. Its just really tough working around military scheduling.
