New Track or Familiar Level 3 --> Cobie and other coaches

Recommended Posts

Hello Cobie, other Coaches, wanted to ask your opinion.

I am planning to try and do level 3 if not also 4 this summer.  The new school location at Corvette track is closer to my home but I really enjoyed VIR last year.

Does it make sense to take level 3 at VIR as I have at least some familiarity of it (and would not be learning a whole new track) or does taking a school at a new track have benefits.

Not sure how to weight the "cost" (Twist of the Wrist) of a new track on top of level 3 lessons.  Need to spend $10.00 wisely!

Thanks!

Dave

There isn't usually time, but if so, can do.

Walking can give a different view than even riding/driving slowly in a car.  Not saying it's always a minus, but sometimes it can get one's attention fixed on stuff that is just not an issue.  "Man, look at that seam!"  Where at 80 mph you don't see it, and don't care.

Thanks JB.

DL: I don't normally think it's a big issue to add a new track, a solid rider should be able to do that...but to be 100% honest, some find it a little distracting.  If you think you might, then do VIR.  If you might be able to do the 2 days together, then I'd say do them at the new track, that should be a non-issue.

Make sense?

I agree that it's very dependent on the rider. I generally get up to (my slow) speed quickly on new tracks, whereas one of my friends need a lot of time to get used to a new track (or a good tow around). Figuring out the hooking sweeper (Turn 9) on Big Willow did require some personal tuition from Cobie though.

DL: It's pretty much down to yourself. I've never taken a CSS course on a track I knew ahead of time, so I might not be the best person to answer. You could actually argue that having a new track to learn is beneficial, because you don't have old & bad habits from riding there previously :)

I think I would like to try new track for 3 then.  It is closer.
