  1. I'm in the market for a new helmet as my Shoei is too big and my KBC's padding is breaking in too much after a few years. I've been looking at the Schuberth SR1 and the AGV Corsa and the Pista GP (even if it is $1400). What do the CR's like & dislike about the SR1? I can't find anyone who has worn one, and just happened across the Schuberth site that mentioned CSS.
  2. After my first weekend of track riding, which was CSS Lvl 1 & 2 at NOLA, my hips were spent! So when I went for another 2-day camp later last year, I had been running and remembered the pain in my lateral hip from holding my legs out during the turns. What I did, and I believe really helped, were lateral leg raises. Just lay on your side and repeatedly lift your leg for 30 reps, each side, several sets. Doing that a few times a week, for about 4 weeks prior really helped. +1 for stretching as well. That is something I never really did and have started doing after workouts, and it sure does help.
  3. What used to scare me, honestly, was the lean angle. I was not aware of how far I could go safely with the tires and wasn't sure about my abilities. After my video bike on Level 1, I saw I was leaning a lot farther than I thought! Cobie even pulled me aside one session and told me "you're at scary angles of lean, on the edge of the tire...now quit applying throttle when leaned that far!" Now what scares me, after doing all 4 levels and getting my confidence and abilities more advanced than previously, is riding on the street. I know what I can do, and what my bike can do, and it scares me to ride on the road. I keep thinking "what if...a car pulls out there, a kid runs out there, a dog crosses the road around that bend...etc" and I'm going too fast. Something that would help would be the braking drill, but only so much I think. Like we've all heard before...the track is safer and more fun; another reason they call it track crack. Now to find that perfect track bike...
  4. I'll see you there...my first on my Aprilia. I can't wait
  5. Hey Dan, I don't know how your seat is on your CBR, but the stock seat on my Tuono is very slippery. I plan on getting a 'carbon' series seat from Race Seats (raceseats.it) for when I start track days on it this fall. If you're comfortable on the stock seat, maybe that's a good route. If you'd be willing to drop the money on a foam seat, even one that uses a stock seat body, it could make you more comfortable by getting a better grip and control of your body on the bike. I know how much more comfortable I would be, so that's why I'm going to go that route. Craig
  6. I just bought a brand new Tuono V4R APRC, thankfully already with aluminum wheels, carbon pieces, CRG levers, Ohlins front/rear with damper and more...and I'm still looking at what I can spend money on!! A seat from raceseats.it and carbon side fairings sound like a good buy so far!
  7. In my level 2 video, I thought I was doing quite well (don't we all...) when all of a sudden one of the instructors, Cobie, blows by me in a blink of an eye. That put it in perspective for me!
  8. I am signed up for the NOLA Motorsports Park 2-day camp in just a couple weeks time and I am ready for it! I've been working on an oil rig in Nigeria, and just got stuck an extra week because my relief decided not to show. I cannot wait to get there and learn what I'm doing wrong, as I am sure the list is long. I know I'll be Level 1 & 2, but are all the machines going to be available at NOLA? I think this may be the first time that CSS will be there, but I could be wrong. Also, anything of importance to know or things to bring would be appreciated. I started street riding 10 years ago when I turned 16, but most of my experience, except for the time I needed a new ABS pump and got a loaner S100RR, I've ridding a GS Adventure, so I'm expecting a huge difference. See you in a few weeks! Craig
