rchase
3 of my bikes have them. I have only adjusted one of them that was set too heavy. Does anybody have any tips and tricks setting one of these for a base setting?
Stroker
Steering dampers should be set at the minimum setting if the suspension is adjusted correctly.
rchase
Thanks for the tip! I tend to leave them alone unless they are too stiff.
Stroker
Many people crank up the steering damper to quiet down shakes caused by improper suspension settings or riding. This is a band aid that will only smother the symptoms. Ideally you want the damper set as low as possible.
rchase
Thanks for the tips there. I'll take a look at them and perhaps loosen the ones I have up a bit until I "need" the extra dampening.
Stroker
Make them as loose as can be.If you have unwanted feedback that is distracting you, then tighten one step at a time. For your style though, i doubt you are dealing with excess feedback from the front.Do you have a damper on the BMW? rchase
Indeed the BMW has a damper that's hidden under the front bodywork. Mine's set to the factory setting which seems to work fine. I have never really had a problem with dancing handlebars.
Stroker
The handlebars would have to work very hard to make you dance. Besides having a loose grip helps a lot.
