Tire Cupping + Leading Trailing Edge ?

Im having problems with differentiating between the leading edge and the trailing edge of a tire thread/sipe (english being not my primary language)

can anyone chime in on this to comfirm/correct my asssumptions??

and also , the tire pic is taken on the left side of the bike(rear) , hence its rotation is counter-clockwise . the red parts are raised (cupping) , are they leading or trailing ?

Ace,

The leading edge of a sipe is first edge of the sipe that touches the tarmac. So for a clockwise rotating tyre having a sipe between 1 and 2 o'clock, the edge at 2 o'clock is the leading edge.

oh ok i get it now , the leading edge, its the FIRST square edge that comes into contact with the tarmac! thanks!! ^^
