  1. This is not the same for everyone. Some really don't like it too hot. Too cold, tires take a long time to heat up (sometimes if really cold, they never do). It was in the 60's last 2 days at Streets of Willow, a little cool but really pretty nice overall. The next school in Vegas looks perfect: high with 70's to low 80's, not a speck of rain in the forecast. That's about as good as it gets. You'll warm up, the tires will get to full temp, and yet not so hot you'll be sweating too much. Looking forward to that!
  2. Thanks for that, makes sense. Have you ridden a single R yet? I'll be interested to hear what you think if/when you do.
  3. I think you are onto something here. I do recall when we spent more time at the WSB races, there was quite a bit of customization of the bike for the rider, and they certainly have more leeway with the MotoGP bikes as full prototypes. Glad you didn't spoil anything about the GP, I'm having problems with my subscription, was going to sit down and watch them today...but not yet!
  4. Great Vinny, thanks for that. I told you, but not sure I put it up here, but the last time I used both of those products I got an honest 1-2 in improvement in commuting mileage, and on the Mustang that's significant.
  5. I've not ridden the 1600. Sounds like you'd prefer the XR to the 1600...is that 'cause the XR is a bit lighter...what about it do you like over the others?
  6. Me too. What I don't quite get is looks like most of the MotoGP riders, have their outside foot locked into the middle, at the heel.
  7. Why become a CSS Coach? I certainly have an opinion on that subject, and I can say why I did/do coach. I'd be interested in what some of the other coaches think on this, and what they'd say. So, how about Hotfoot and Coffeefirst, why did you become one, and continue to coach? Best, Cobie
  8. Aside from Keith (and Jon), I'm not the oldest anymore! Smartypants.
  9. Hey James, how did the school go? Beat, Cobie
  10. Vinny, my Mustang ('06 GT) is port injected, and looks like my GMC Sierra is too. What would I use in those? You have given some rough guidelines in some emails we've shared, but wanted to ask here for others to see the response.
  11. Boys are starting to call me a "dinosaur", I've not tried any of the sims.
  12. Mike, Haven't been on that exact model bike, but if it's better than the 2018 I rode in Taiwan (I'm sure it is)...I'm sold! The handling was excellent, the riding position, and the mid-range was even stronger! When we first switched to the BMW, it was the release year for the "rr"--2010. We took a little heat on putting newer track riders on what was basically one of the most powerful production bikes made! What were we thinking? Well ,we'd tested the bike, we knew what we had. We keep accurate records of all incidents/crashes--and they dropped over 35% ! The previous bike was a very nice 600. Hmmm....small bikes are safer? The "rr" and it's varying models was such an improvement it caught everyone else napping--traction control, etc.
  13. Since this is a little different, staring a new thread. What bikes (and let's start with sport/sport oriented bikes) are best for the aging rider? Or maybe we include the less flexible? We are of course biased and love the BMW S1000rr. But 2 of my top coaches have requested (more than once) getting a few S1000r (called "single r"). So, what bike do you have/like, and why? All of those that just lurk, don't be timid, chime in 🤔.
  14. Sounds good, we are looking forward to getting back East and riding there, and VIR!
  15. Lots of good points, but one question: can the bike be pushed up by the inside leg/knee? Don't think this is possible...
  16. Missed the weekend's races, I'll get 'em tonight. Who likes the newer format with the sprint race on the Saturday? (I do!).
  17. GP, pretty good summary! A bonus question for you: why does this technique not work on cruisers?
  18. Thanks Vinny. I don't know my car and truck, which injection type they have...I'll do some research.
  19. OK, there is another fine point on efficiency that can be used, but only on sport bikes (meaning not on a cruiser). That is the Pivot Steering technique. It's in Twist 2, any one care to summarize what it is, and how it would be a benefit?
  20. Anyone confident enough to make some predictions for this year? Will Martin keep it together? Will Peco extend his streak? Does the Yamaha and Quartararo have chance to be a contender?
  21. Looks like we are going to get a rinse repeat for this upcoming school Mar 9-10. Perfect weather, and the class has some room now. There was no wind either, that's always nice. Best Mexican restaurant that's nearby is Zapata's on Craig Rd, near I-15. Outstanding carne asada, and pretty much all else.
  22. Hmmm...good point on the foot position. I think if you look at most of the MotoGP guys, you'll see the outside foot wedged on the heel. But moving from side to side? And how about the inside foot? That needs to be back up and out of the way. Any of you internet geniuses (to me that's almost anyone) find some good slow-mo of a MotoGP rider moving in a transition, from side to side? That would be good to see.
  23. more relatable, that's a great way to put it.
