  1. When I did Level 1 and 2, I got the package in the mail. For level 3, I hadn't received anything, so I called the office and spoke with Echo, and she made it sound like they don't physically send it out anymore, but instead send a PDF file via email that had all of the paperwork from the package. I figured they had just upgraded to newer technology. Anyways, the PDF came within the next week, and it had the release forms to be signed and sent back, so I printed it out.
  2. Hey Stephen, I will be in the Level 3 class on 6/13, riding a '08 CBR 1000. If you get signed up I'll see you there. What kind of bike do you ride? I'm no expert, but I would personally put some newer tires on if you have +/- 3,000 miles on them. The last two times, I taped up the headlights and removed the plug to them so they don't turn on and make some goo from the tape heating up. I tape off the brake light and unplug it. I remove the mirrors, and rear blinkers/license plate. That's it.
  3. Hi DMX, The other guys have covered this pretty well, but the main issue is there aren't that many places that are readily accesible for spectators at the Streets. Our official photographer has gotten all that sorted out with our course control Trevor, where he can and can't be. For sure OK behind the pit wall as Stuman mentioned, and can get some good shots there. Thanks guys, and thanks Cobie (you were my coach in Level 1 in June at Streets....Vic Whitaker), but anyways, that is pretty much what I expected. The pro-photog took some great pics last time around. I told my chick I would ask since she is coming up with me this next time around.
  4. I know you have a professional photographer take pics. I will be coming up to Willow Springs on 10/25, and was wondering if a spectator can go to different parts of the track and take pictures, or is nobody allowed out there. If not allowed out and all over the track, can they get close down by the last few turns to get some pics?
  5. I used my own bike in June at Streets of Willow, and think it was a great way to go. The setup was easy, they will even have some tape on hand if you miss something, they get the tires dialed in, everything. My goal with the school was to learn my own machine better, and that goal was accomplished ten fold. I put new tires on, and now have over 1000 miles on them including the school day, and they still are doing fine. I kept the tires I removed that were at about 80% and I will use them up on the street. I liked it so much and felt that I learned so much that I am signed up for Level II in October. **EDIT -- Saw that your class was 8/4. How did it go?
  6. Actually, I think that would be fine, I was just thinking if I could enhance the experience I would like to. Some other people suggested that race tires wouldn't be worth it as a novice, and that the Pilot Power 2CTs would be better. Suggestions?
  7. I am coming up to Willow Springs on June 7, for Level I. I am going to be gettign some Bridgestone BT-002 PRO race tires, and was wondering for that date and track, would I be better off going with MEDIUM (Type 3) tires, or SOFT (Type 4) tires? Any suggestions?
  8. Will do, Cobie! Thanks for the welcome.
  9. Dropping in to say Hi. I am signed up for the Level I school on June 7th at Willow Springs and I am really looking forward to it. This will be my first experience on a track (with a street bike), and I am obviously a little nervous as to what to expect. A little about me. Born and raised in San Diego, I have been riding for about 4-5 years total with about 30,000 miles on the street. I started on a 2002 Honda 600 F4i, and am now the owner of a 2008 CBR 1000RR. I was involved in an accident on the 600 back in Sept of '06, and am now just getting back on a bike, so about a year and a half layoff. I had read Twist I and Twist II back in 2002, and I just finished re-reading them a couple of weeks ago. Great reading. I have told my friend that is afraid to ride a bike on the street (he is an awesome dirt rider/racer) that if he would just read those books, some of his fears would go away. Anyways, can't wait for the school, really looking forward to leanring alot of new information.
