  1. A about two weeks ago I went to a track day at big willow. I was realy excited to get back on track after practicing my riding technique (thanks CSS) Working on my fitness and a long cold winter break. But my day was pleaged with problems. I had cramps in my sholders and back and was getting very fituged each session by about lap 4-5. I checked all my leavers and rear sets for position but could never pin down the problem..... as the day wore on i realized that I could not see through the corner and was looking down at the candy stripe like Rossi to get through to apex.... Then it hit me like a tone of bricks: My helmet was hindering my view and causing me to strain my neck and sholders giving me fatiuge and pain and eventualy causing me to run off track into omega. (kept it up though) Basicaly my helmet was way to big. I had lost about 20 pounds and that thing was just huge on me now. So although it was my prized soumy spec R1 it had to go. It never realy fit my nogin perfectly but it sure was perty... Last week I picked up a Shoei, med (almost opted for small) I have only been able to test a canyon run but it is realy amazing to note the difference. Instead of fighting to see I can focus on my line, throtle controle etc. Some times it is the smallest things that hinder you. I found my self wondering if my set up was off or what but it was just the size of my lid... I guess the lesson here is that you should go for fit first and grafix a far second and try on every possible lid till you find the company that fits you particular head best. Remember that it should fit snug.... IT WILL STRECH OUT in my opinion if it is not a bit TIGHT when you first try it on it is too big.
  2. Yeah your so right. As a rider your always so affraid of any little twitch from the rear tire..... and a slip from the front is unspeakable terror. All I know is that I would never have been able to get the corage to be on track if it were not for level 1 and the twist books. I cant wait to get back in the comming months for the next levels. I am especialy looking forward to puting in some time on the slide bike! now if only we could press fast forward on the next few months.... Im already jonesing to get back on track!
  3. LOL not me, cupple guys got their elbow and head down though ;-P
  4. What can I say..... I am completely addicted to the track since doing level one in october. I tried to fit one last track day in for the year even though the chances of great weather were slim. But the forcast was 65 F and Sunny (chance of clouds/ no rain) however the day did not turn out to be even close. It was about 38 F thick fog and lots of moisture, never got out of the 40's F all day..... The track was wet and all but frozen, every session was red flagged at least once; the carnage was amazing! The worst part was that 99% of the down riders tossed it in the first 1-2 laps.... *!?# :-( Although it was a major feet to keep here upright most of the day I managed to have fun and work on throtle controll. I would not realy recomend doing a trackday in these conditions but in all it turned out to be fun and even though front and rear were sliding around throught the day (PUCKER!) NOTE: score one for Dunlop Qualifiers. Most of the photos for the day were realy REALY boring becaus you realy had to keep upright as possible to stay out of truble. But I did manage to get two OK picks from one corner in the wormest, least wet session. (note the mud on the cone in one of the picks)
  5. nice form..... looks good to me. You have your rearend back of the seat, good position and your tucked in... plus that sweet white suit, Im jelious! guess all you need now is a sponser ;-)
  6. did my first track day post CSS at buttonwillow... It was amazing to see the progress that I made since the corse. My comfidence in the bike and my ability to ride it has improved so much. (got my knee down for the first time ;-) How do you attach a photo!? I have some, will post as soon as I figure it out. ok you can go to this link to see photos http://i443.photobucket.com/albums/qq152/g...willow/rsw1.jpg http://i443.photobucket.com/albums/qq152/g...willow/rsw4.jpg http://i443.photobucket.com/albums/qq152/g...illow/rsw14.jpg I cant wait to break through my next riding barrior!
  7. October 25, 2008 was the first day of the rest of my riding career. I completed level one and the light has switched on. I have to admit that I was expecting a lot because of how highly recomended CSS came to me.... the bar was realy high and I was even a bit skeptical that my expectations would be met... All I can say is that CSS surpassed my highest expectations. Although only completing level one, my riding has improved 100%. How can that be.... It is because the guys and girls at the shcools take all the guess work out of riding a sport bike. The real proof is in my riding. The day after the corse I joined the boys for my usual sunday canyon run.... before I could barley keep up on a good day, (most guys have been riding way longer than me) now after only one day of coching, I was keeping up with 50% in reserve wile everyone els were trying to hard... I have a feeling everyone I have ever rode with will soon be attending CSS. I am actually foaming at the mouth to get in for level 2-4!!!!!!
  8. I just started riding about 1 year ago. Racing has alwas been my passion but on a bike... seems to risky. So I have decided to learn from the pros and everyone says CSS is the place to go. I was hoping that my raffel ticket would be a winner at moto gp laguna seca, but since I still have not got that "Congrats" call Im just going to caugh up the money. Thanks for posting about level 1. This sounds exactly like everything I am looking for. (was concerned that level1 may be to much like the riders safety corse.) I just registered for Oct 25, I am planing to complete all four levels by this time next year. (college education of riding) The best part is this: I ride evry sunday on the local canyon run with my buddy who has a year of riding on me. I am not telling him that I am attending CSS, Im just going to pass him the next day on the long sweeper knee down finger in the air (Rossi to Biagi)- like "what?" Cheers! gOrloK
