  1. I knew I would forget someone. Will thanks for fresh tires and keeping the RR's alive and well.
  2. Well I finaly got to go to CSS for my level 1 day at NJMP! WOW. I am going to apologize up front for how long this is going to be. Please try not to fall asleep as you can really hurt yourself hittting your head on the keyboard! When we showed up promptley at 7:00AM it was raining and I was somewhat pessimistic (whinning) about riding in the rain. I was greeted by Kieth Code himself(thats right you actually can interact with him, I found him to be enthusiastic, reassuring, and humble) who explained to me that by the end of the day I would be praying for rain because I will love to ride in it! What is this you say..... I firmly do not believe it. Well to make this part short, he was right. I went faster and felt more confident on a wet track than I had in the past on a dry road. Okay so now you have my attention. When the track dried a little and we could start to push I again felt confident that I could handle it. There is no tricks here it is solid technique and once I got my brain to accept it even though I watched Twist 1&2 and read the books I still didnt really get it. It is when it is broken down in this format that you really get it. I actually said to myself in my helmit "ah ha"! A few days later I was able to get out and ride a favorite twisty rode. I was very suprised to find that all of a sudden my FZ1 was not as much fun as the RR. I will have to suffer or convince my wife to get me one for my upcoming birthday. During the ride I felt confident and relaxed. Nope that school did not help me at all I am not any faster. It did not sink in untill I stopped for a cup of coffee that it wasnt that I didnt go any faster I simply was not runing into the barriers/SR's. I was running a pace that was a little faster than usual but it felt like I was going slow. So once again Keith and his team were right. Motorcycling is so much more enjoyable when you are not struggling to enjoy it! I am already contemplating were to take level 2, I think a different track might be fun. Okay time to thank some people. Crystal, thank you for getting me were I needed to be when I needed to be there! I cannot believe you move all these people around at every class and havent gone off the deep end. Jessica you took one look at me grabbed some leathers a pair of boots and gloves. A perfect fit, I have had this body for 46 years and I cannot do that in a store. Cobie, Thank you for your input and assistance. My riding coach Gregg deserves a huge round of applause first because I can be a litle type "A" and secondly because of a track problem he was rushed, you did a great job and getting me to figure out the problems instead of telling me what was going wrong worked perfectly! To Trevor and Missy, thank you for keeping us as safe as possible on a racetrack! To Pete your classroom sessions were fun yet I got the point. I have had a lot of training for my work and I have had alot teachers. You are amongst the best. Finally to Keith, thank you for the insight, your kind words, your enthusiasim and most of all the team you have assembled. You gave me a gift that will keep giving. To anyone I did not mention I am truly sorry if I forgot you or did not meet you personaly. There is no way this could go as well as it did with out all of you. Because I did not mention your name does not mean I don't appreiciate your impact. Thank you all I hope to see you soon! Mark
  3. Hello all. First I want to apologize for posting questions that have been asked here before. I can't seem to find the previous post so I am stuck bugging you all again! The wife and I are taking level 1 in two weeks at NJMP(I have been waiting all summer!) and we are unsure about whether or not we should try to be in the same group. We are able to work very well together and often times compliment the learning process for each other. On the other hand being separate and able to only concentrate on absorbing the information is very important as well. So if anyone has been in this situation please let me know what you did and how it turned out and if any of the coaches have any thoughts please chime in. Thanks for the ear!
  4. Unfortunately I am only able to take the one day level 1. Actually I am regretting not taking the two day class. Maybe I will see you there, I will be the one with the huge s&$#+ eating grin! Which FZ do you ride?
  5. I have both and they ar epretty much dog eared! I hate to admit it but I have a VCR copy of twist 1 from around 1989+/-. They are great sources of information. Nothing beats coaching! thanks for the info!
  6. Hello all! I have a question that seems silly but I have to ask anyway. I am taking level one this September at NJMP!!!! I do not want to miss anything in the class session but at the same time I would like to have detailed notes from the class. Does the school have anything that you use during the class sessions that you take with you when the day is done? I am worried about forgetting what I learn in class. Especially being the end of the riding season in New England(MASS) I will not have a lot of time to practice what I have learned. I hated homework in school but something tells me I won't mind this homework! Any insight or your experience would help.
  7. I too new about the school in the 80s it was 2 hours away at Briar Motorsports Park in Loudon NH. Like a dolt I never took it! I am taking level one at Jersey in September! If I could only find a way back machine! Welcome to the forum, I have found everyone very friendly and enthusiastic! Enjoy.
  8. I am not sure who is an instructor and who is not, but seeing the interaction amongst both makes me think I should have taken the school along time ago. I used to see the trucks etc at Loudon NH in the 80s. Oh man did I just date myself! Hey todays 45 is the new 25!
  9. My exposure to Japan was through my brother who was stationed there as a Marine security detachment on the USS Independence. My brother told me some stories of the traffic! I have a total of 20 years riding experience and I am taking level one this fall at NJ and would not like to ride in traffic in Japan!
  10. Sorry I have been away. Riding Japan must be a bit of stress test! I am very happy with the FZ. I am looking into having the rear shock revalved or just repacing it with something better. They really goofed on the shock!
  11. Rear brake? What the heck is that and where is it? Ha Ha! Sometimes a moment like that can teach us a lot, if we have the presence of mind to pay attention to what is happening, Sounds you both learned something from that,
  12. I allready wish I did the two day camp!
  13. The exhaust is terrible ugly. I ordered Yosh slip on the day I signed the papers for the bike. The bike is awesome though, all day comfortable, more power, lighter, and the inverted fork works so much better. For any track or serious sport duty a new shock is a must! Only has a spring preload adjuster, no compression or rebound adjustments. The fuel injection is real nice as well! Can you tell I like the bike? Although I am looking foward to getting on the BMW!
  14. It is an 09,I also had an 05. When i figure it out I will use it for my photo! What about yourself?
