  1. Kevin,

I also wrote, "I wasn't complaining about the flow and progressive nature of the drills."

Now just so there is no more confusion about my original question, I will post it once more.

"What things can be used as reference points and can you give me some examples at say, "Streets"?"

  2. Kevin,

I wasn't complaining about the flow and progressive nature of the drills. I was only saying that I was having trouble learning new tracks (both level 1 and 2 were at tracks I'd never been to before) and, in level 2, I had trouble finding reference points when my only past examples were GIANT white X's. At the end of the day I still didn't use heavy braking, mostly because I'd been "spoken to" earlier and was afraid of being scolded again, plus I didn't have reference points for that.

My worst fear when going to the school is not being able to ride all of the sessions for whatever reason.

  3. I know there is a lot more to it than that but this is the condensed version, most of which we covered in Levels 1 & 2.

6 should be:? Roll throttle on in a steady continuous motion through the turn.

Have you been to the school? It's great!

    As I said above, I've only completed Levels 1 & 2.

  4. What is the correct sequence when coming into a turn?

    Is it like this?

    1. Throttle on

    2. Set up body position, pinch tank with knees

    3. Throttle off

    4. Brake/downshift to correct gear for exiting the corner

    5. Quick turn

    6. Throttle on (just a bit to stabilize the bike?)

    7. Bring the bike out of the turn and accelerate

Can one of the instructors correct me on this or add anything?

  5. I sell motorcycles for a living and see this everyday.

Do not... I repeat, DO NOT buy a liter bike for your first bike my friend. You are flirting with disaster. All of the current 600's will do 150+ and quarter miles in the 12's with an average rider.

Best case, you don't crash and never become any better of a rider due to the fact you are always spending your attention on throttle control and none on any of the other actions of riding your motorcycle.
