  1. Thanks Cobie, Got most of the stuff from Sunstate Racing, Australia, most of it came within my budget. so i am sorted there, Thanks Again, Poncho PS- saw a presentation with a proposal for you guys having an event in India, at the MMSC Race Track.. me looking forward to it...
  2. Hi, I guess this might not be the best place to ask this question, but I am visiting sother California - Costa Mesa, 2nd week November. Coming on work but was hoping to do some bike shoping, can you guys advise me where I can look for some used parts for my bike, I figure i have a 3 year old bike (2005 CBR600RR), and there should a lot of second hand race bits availalbe - Basically Stuff like - 1. Race Cams 2. Close ration Gearbox 3. Rear suspension 4. Steering Damper Few other bits that are available... Thanks
  3. Every one upped the rubber, mostly people ran the pilot power, now everyone runs the Pirellis, I guess these are really delivering results, both the onelts that finished in front of me, ran Full front suspension and rear WSBK suspension from Bitubo !!! Serious power with full exhaust systems, head gaskets and all kinds of tuning gadgets.
  4. It was a combination of 3 things - 1. less brakes 2. Quciker Steering (more agressive) 3. Faster on the gas Found 3 seconds over the weekend, only problem I guess everyone seriously upped their hardware for the last weekend races, so everyone dropped about 3 seconds :-( will keep working on it.. Thanks
  5. Just ordered the book, waiting for it... Thanks for all the support, yup I have a live example of getting a overtaking manuver to stick, in India the 1000cc and the 600cc are all one race, with different postition for the 600cc class and the 1000cc, I would always end up overtaking the lt guys on the exit on to the straight, and half way down they would just blow by me... will read up and sort it out for my self...
  6. Hi Racer, We have 2 race tracks in India both in the southern part of India. The one that the above pictures are from - http://www.mmsc.in/track.htm there is a smaller track 500 kms from this track. We basically have 3 championships for the big bike, we have the JK National Championship, UCAL Rolol Cahampionship and MRF International Challenge. Apart from this other events are motocross / rallies including the raide de himalayas, etc.. With import duties of bikes at 160%, no local support, it is one very expensive sport... there is not too much sponsership for motor racing in India.
  7. Thanks a lot guys, just finished a race weekend, and as usual finished 2nd place, dropped another second, and also cracked the mystical 2 minute lap time, something I have dreamed of doing for a long time, put in a lot of work on it.... Just for the record, I have tried the no brake drill, but I found some time, just having different approch into 2 corners and being a lot more agressive on the gas, and also found some time on the brakes... new target 1:55 Can anyone advise me where I can read up on overtaking manuvers and how to make them stick? Thanks again
  8. Higher entry speed is where i am trying to go, how do you do it... go i faster, 1. do i need to change POT, may be earlier?? 2. should I experiment with trail braking? not too comfortable with this one, dont have good feel for the front 3. Do I get more agressive on the gas once i finish my turning? 4. Do try a different line? Speed for me is relative, and i add very little of it, in my opinion I need work on point # 3 get more agressive on the gas once I finish the turn, just wanted to get everyones views. My competitor is on very different hardware, he is racing a 2007 CBR600rr with every HRC part on it, and he is also comfortable with trail braking.
  9. Thanks for the reply You hit the nail on the head, I am being passed into the corner, dont think I am working up any SR on my way in, its just that most of the guys go in a lot faster than me, but on the exit, i can make up the a certain level of speed. I am currently about 2 seconds off the pace against my competitor, I am leading the championship going into the final 2 rounds. I do use the 2 stage vision technique and also am using the quick steer technique. Most of the observers including my own team mates tell me I am riding by the book, meaning I ride in a very classical style, no turning early, chopping throtle mid corner and stuff.. I am ever super consistent, last race I put in 7 laps out of a 8 lap race between 2:00:060 and 2:00:648. After watching my competitor and riding with him for a few corners I just felt he as faster on the first section of a turn
  10. Me before ToW I am the number 88 in the lead Coming to grip with coming on the gas as quickly as possbile Last Race (last weekend) Decent Result finished second Lap time difference 2 seconds...
  11. Hi Guys, I have been reading a lot of the twist of the wrist, I need to figure out how to increase my entry speed, ie, from the POT to the Apex, i dont think I am slow out of the corners, in most cases I seem to be able to make time coming out, but loosing out in the first section of the corner. Question - Am I loosing out on the time taken to change direction, that is to making the turn or do i need to work on coming harder on the gas once I have completed my turning procedure? Appriciate you view and comments PS - took out 16 seconds from my lap time between Vol 1 and 2. Thanks
  12. Awsome, must try it out!!, never went into it at that detail...
  13. Well with the software boom, I guess thing have become much better.. but yes its been one uphill challenge to get the racing thing going here... we have 160% import duties on bikes and tires so you can imagine our groups racing budget are quite high, my budgets are very low, so we really have a tough time getting the tires to last, etc.. Thanks agian for your support
  14. Thanks guys, got to thank keith for the 3 books (bibles).... 2 bikes went down, the pro (gebraj cbr600rr) and a close buddy of mine stan CBR1000rr, gebraj flipped after colliding with the bike in front and to avoid running stan lowsided.. a typical racing incident!!
  15. you said it, Adrenalin rocks.. The starting line had a total of 14 bikes, of which 3 were 600cc (1. ZX6R, 2. CBR600RR x 2) One CBR was ridden by a pro, these are racing for a living, he was about 2 seconds off the race pace, and running in 4rth. He also was involved in the big crash, and took down 2 CBR1000RRs with him when he went down. He was quite fast.. The track is 3.9 kms long but we only use the short loop as the long loop is not maintained well so we race the 2.4 kms short loop. I have attached some pics bike number 88 is mine..
  16. Got back to a busy monday, had a blast over the weekend... When I testing the bike on Friday I was around 1:29, Saturday morning 1:20, qualified at 1:18 10th postition during the race lap 9 was gunning for the 8th postition guy, had to pull in as there was a big crash which took out 2 guys and littered the whole track and the race was red flagged... I was down to 1:15s during the race and getting faster... The suprise for the weekend was the guy at pole on a 1:11 (full kitted 06 CBR1000RR), my bike (ZX6R 05)completly stock excluding the fairing and the front braided lines :-( (we are all in the same class), I never thought I would be able to finish the race, after 2 laps of qualifiying I was in pain, during the race I guess the adrelelin kicked in.. It was awsome.. Thanks for the support
  17. Hi all, This is my first post, I would like to intorduce myself - I am from India, as you are aware we dont have too many big bikes here, and those you have them are mainly into posing.. September last year I was introduced to the race track by a friend of mine and since then I am an addict. I now race and organize superbike races in India. I am not a spectacular rider, and after hacking at track riding for 10months I got my knee down in June and also had my first high speed crash. I have had a big crash in the last round of our championship, got off lucky considering the speed and stuff, just a broken wrist. I get my cast off today and will be racing this weekend. I am out of the championship With your experience, what should I watch out for, how should I prepare for the races, any tips on riding with a splint on my wrist? Lastly I am running a 05 ZX6R with Racetech 120/70 front tyre I have dropped my forks by 6mm, any tips and adivse on this? Thanks in advance,
