  1. I do look forward to watching Spies this coming season, as well as would love to see those two race.
  2. I had a blast learning from James for level 1 & 2 and with my level 3 & 4 coming up I was thinking the same kind of thoughts. I think I will leave it to chance and who ever I get as my coach is who I get. I will say all of them I met were amazing and fast watching them so it won't matter who it is. lol
  3. Ya, I get a bit bugged out with them in in traffic myself. I can only wear my headphones when out away from town and traffic.
  4. Now that would be a hellava learning experience. lol
  5. Yes I had to reread the "bovine scatology" at first cause it threw me off. lol
  6. I will wear my headphones for long cruises that don't have a lot of twisties. But if I am actually going to be riding sporty or riding on the track it is too much of a distraction from my attention as I get into the songs too much lol.
  7. Oh yes, climbing in and out of your gear sometimes for the short rides almost seems like a waste. But trust me on this one, it is worth every second. I have been a firefighter/paramedic for 10 years now and the majority of wrecks happen within 5-10 minutes of home either coming or going. Gear is the difference between some bruises and pain and scars for life in those rare occasions u put it to the test. Congrats by the way on getting some mileage under your belt. I agree with Kevin, that if you get the chance you should hit some longer rides bit by bit with some variety in road types to help your comfort.
  8. It is funny you bring up the track on Grand Turismo. I use to play it a ton and actually know the track in my head from doing it. lol Same as Laguna, at least the layouts anyways. Can't wait to get first hand knowledge of Infineon and one day Laguna.
  9. Francisco, my girlfriend and I did levels 1 & 2 this past November in Vegas and the track is a lot of fun for learning. You will have a great time there I am sure.
  10. I had done a handful of track days without them at first and then started wearing them. I was so amazed at the difference! Bones, you describe it well in that it does make my internal dialog clearer and gives me more attention to focus where it needs to be.
  11. How does the radius increase on a bike leaned to the inside of a turn when no bar input has been applied (assuming the tires are not sliding)? Here is a quote from Wikipedia that's interesting: Because real tires have a finite contact patch with the road surface that can generate a scrub torque, and when in a turn, can experience some side slipping as they roll, they can generate torques about an axis normal to the plane of the contact patch. One such torque is generated by asymmetries in the side-slip along the length of the contact patch. The resultant force of this side-slip occurs behind the geometric center of the contact patch, a distance described as the pneumatic trail, and so creates a torque on the tire. Since the direction of the side-slip is towards the outside of the turn, the force on the tire is towards the center of the turn. Therefore, this torque tends to turn the front wheel in the direction of the side-slip, away from the direction of the turn, and therefore tends to increase the radius of the turn. Yes more centrifugal force will cause the bike to start running wider creating a bigger radius. Nice definition you found to explain it there Hotfoot.
  12. So, are you saying that a RP is something that can be moving? Because as a rider, you are moving. What is your def. of a RP? My definition of a RP is a location or object on or near the track you can use to tell you where you are. You don't want to use moving RP's that creates more of a survival reaction such as following someone else around the track and focusing on them instead of your own reference points. That can lead to a crash real quick. By using your reference points and refering to where you currently are you can put together your line for that corner. So, since you would be moving, would you be a RP?
  13. Nice, I will see you there and I can't wait to ride that track.
  14. Yes, I have removed the calipers to check but everything looks fine... But because my mechanics was not there, maybe I did not see what was wrong... lollll well, I'm learning! It realy not came from the brake lever, that was not the feeling of «squeechy» brakes... (I dont know the word in english... lolll), but like if they sticks on the discs... Yes thats what i am talking about. You don't always feel it in the lever if the pads stick to the rotors, you can feel it in how it handles and stops but not always in the lever.
  15. I agree, he is looking great. Pass on the best wishes and good luck for this upcoming season.

  17. I had a high speed get off in a set of Frank Thomas leathers and they held up perfectly. Also had a friend who went down hard and wore a hole through the knee area of his Frank Thomas but his leg was pinned under his bike and it never got to his clothing or skin, just the leathers and armour. I wear an Alpinestars suit now but the Frank Thomas held up well for me.
  18. Have you examed your entire braking system to make sure nothing is wrong with any of it? I know brakes can heat up and stick to the rotors if they get hot enough. I know this from racing cars, I have never had a bike do it but I don't see why it would be any different.
  19. Bones, I love the working it backwards idea. I have always worked it the other way but backwards seems like an easy way to figure out what you want with what you need to do to produce it.
  20. Don't forget yourself. Where your location on the track is also a reference point. You use it along with the other reference points you guys are describing to make the line through the corner.
  21. I will be there both days re-taking Level's II & III. I retook Level I there in November and that track rocks! The elevation changes are a blast. Kevin Sweet, it will be nice to meet some new faces in person from the boards. I look forward to it.
  22. I am signed up and excited to be doing my level 3 & 4 at Infineon March 16 & 17! Anybody else signed up for these dates? This track looks demanding with all the elevation changes. Share some of your thoughts on the track my fellow riders if you have been on this track. Thanks in advance everyone.
