  1. Wow, and I just got used to the old one !!!!
  2. Probably the biggest problem I had and still have occasional problems with. Looking to early into the turn and cutting the top of the apex off and running the ripple strip backing off the throttle and when passing the apex looking too far ahead and having a too tight a line making me back off the throttle again. Two/three step will definately make this looking business easier. turn head just before you hit the TP then turn bike turn head before apex looking for exit point roll the throttle gradually picking the bike up and then, turn head before exit point and start looking for your next entry point or continue up the straight.
  3. Gday Bobby, Awesome read mate and welcome back, I would love to have been there!!!!! Lucky bugger Dylan
  4. Hey Eirik, If you have zero chicken strips on the rear how can you lean further over? wouldnt that mean you would be on the rim? Could someone please clarify that as I must be not understanding correctly. Nice debreif too
  5. Welcome to the forum Paul From what I can gather your saying you increased your lean angle whilst adding more throttle and on cold tyres running road pressures? Did the back step out frist or the front end come out from under you? Increase lean angle and throttle at the same time is a no no and will end up with you coming off and sliding for a bit. Im no tyre guru so when it comes to pressures I always have a chat to the track tyre guy on what pressures to run on the day also tell him the type, cold day on the track may take 3-4 laps to warm your tyres up. Regular braking and speed will warm up the tyres, sounds like there wasnt much of that going on, I would look at getting tyre warmers. Id suggest to get back on the track, when your fingers have got better, slow it down a bit say to 60-70% and just work on the level 1 drills again and gradually increase your speed until you have confidence in your ability and the rubbers again, once the tyres are warm. If your still not confident maybe do level 1 again? If your a bit apprehensive about riding cause of your crash maybe have a chat to Bullet, UK coach, he's just coming back from a really big prang. I was the same after my stack last year. Hope your back on the horse soon, some of the guys in the forum will help out if I wasn't too helpful. Safe riding Dylan
  6. Welcome Allison enjoy the forum plenty of great information and lots of people ready to help out with adding to your knowledge of riding.
  7. The Australian school site lets you know if the spots are filling up fast and for which levels, have a look.
  8. Hey Cobie, I think the ability to communicate effectively and convey the points that you have observed to students is very important. You may know what you want to say to the student but if you cant tell them how to change or try something new they wont be able to acheive the drills/level being taught.
  9. Mate I wouldnt be getting into the habit of more throttle and increasing lean angle. as you get faster you might get a bit of a shock when you start looking at your rear tyre then your bike heading offinto the distance....minus you of course. I wouldnt worry about the front tyre so much as the driving force is coming form the rear. If theres no chicken strips on the rear then you cant really increase lean angle without using the non rubber bit ie the inside of the rim, of course this will end in you and the bike doing a very close track inspection. I would suggest to get yourself booked into level 1 and clarify some points in your riding. Ride safe
  10. Gday Maxih and Mark, Welcome to the forum, Maxih maybe see you at Phillip Island on easter monday Dylan
  11. Almeria looks very quick and he was bloody lucky that hole in the wall was there
  12. Gday George, Enjoy the forum, its full of information and lots of helpful people Dylan
  13. Hey pjm, I was the same, wanting to lean more which made me try harder which in turn made me stiff on the bike. All these little things made it harder for me to concentrate on the very simple drills that let me go faster into a turn... The Two step (Three step aswell) and quick turning. At a track day I would sit behind someone who was a little faster than me and let them basically set the speed and follow them in. Dont pick someone ridiculously quick as it will end in tears. I found that the faster I went in to a corner my lean angle increased, now I go into a corner and my brain will be saying slow down you clown!!! so I just turn my head into the corner and everything slows down (sound familiar) and Im suddenly quicker into a turn...... dunno if that makes sense? I would suggest, if you havent done it already, make sure that your reference points, turning points apex and vanishing points are accurate so that you know exactly where your turning apexing and leaving the corner. Maybe concentrate on one track for a bit and get it pretty well sorted then move onto another...worked for me. Sorta haphazard disjointed advice I know but I hope it sorta helps you out, lots of guys in here that can probably explain it better than me. Dylan
  14. I fully agree that everything we learn on the track directly translates to riding on the street, just the lines are different. We're not pushing as hard as we would on the track because of all the diffrent variables like oncoming traffic coming into your lane, gravel, land/rockslides etc etc. I dont just apply things I have learnt at the school to just my bike, I apply it when driving a motorvehicle, mind you I dont hang a cheek of my car seat when Im cornering Dylan
  15. Hi pjm, I guess the first question is why do you think you need to lean more? is it to drag your knee? Dylan
  16. Eirik I think you had better add Bongos picture for massive lean!!!! Onya Bongo
  17. If its a stinking hot day I'll think about washing the liner...when it gets wet and dries out i'll hit it with some leather revitaliser stuff, for my car seats, that seems to about do it, softens the leather back up and gets it nice and clean. Nothing special.
  18. I think the only time I would use lines like on a track, on the street, would be if I was good enough to race at the Isle of Man TT. I reckon this link says it all
  19. Yes use different lines compared to street and track
  20. Hmm only my 2nd time at that track, you could be right, if it isnt it should be crash corner!!! the 2 times i've been there its claimed about 5 riders. Ive had a look a some footage of soft rear suspension and wear on tyres and I think my rebound may be a problem. Like you said good RPs and trust my line and I'll definately try pick up drill this saturday and update my track drawings with some more RPs . Thanks Stuman Dylan
  21. BTW the footage isnt me just something I ripped off you tube
