  1. Eirik...I didn't learn a thing. Serious illness in my family made it impossible for me to attend. You can only imagine how disappointed I was. Things work out for the best and instead of doing two days consecutively, I'm going to do one day in May...absorb the experience and apply it to my riding and then do another day in August. I'll do the same thing next year.
  2. I'd do the TT...only in my wildest grandiose dreams!
  3. So, finally, after all this time I've come to another plan. I will do a one day, let it sink in, practice what I've learned for a couple of months and then do another single day at the end of the summer. 2014...here we go!
  4. Lose at least 10 lbs Set my bike up Find more isolated practice routes. Get consistent with riding partners for weekly rides Use Twist II yet again for study
  5. Fortunately I've been losing weight since I got my bikes. I've just got off my tail and started being active because I wanted to ride. I lost close to 60 lbs. This only worked to a point and now I have to make a concerted effort to lose more. I'm at about 200lbs and 5'10". We have a swimming pool and a weight room in our Clubhouse in our Town-home complex. It should be easy and I really like Cobie's plan to work out as soon as we get up as I'm usally full of energy then. My goal is 165. Wishing us all luck. Nic
  6. Chief, What can you tell me about the bike? After all the miles the School has put on them you must have learned a lot. Thanks,
  7. Its a '13 and it had 3 miles on it when I drove off the lot. I had a tough time with the color because they all looked good. Originally I had the red written up on my sales invoice and then I started to think the white, blue, and red was the way to go. Finally I saw a black one with lots of carbon fiber on it in a You tube video and my mind was made up. Mine doesn't have the carbon on it yet so I will have lots of incentive to save. The black is stealthy and understated. Whan I stopped for a coke at my favorite biker bar yesterday I heard one buddy whisper to another saying "that was the new Beemer" as they walked past, and the other one responded "yeah, I noticed". This is exactly the level of fame I aspire to (other than the level where people know you are super rich because then I would have my own race course). For exhaust I'm going to go with Brocks because I really like the sound and they give a healthy power increase. The growl is substantial although the stock pipe sounds pretty darn good in a much different way and the looks are right there as well. Therefore, I won't be in a mad rush to change the pipe. I got more than one surprise with this bike. BMW does a pretty smart thing by putting a 9000rpm rev limiter on it but I didn't know this as I drove off from the dealer. Imagine my surprise when it started to stumble later on that day as I wound it up some. It didn't take me long to guess what that was wrong and the realization that the bike is significantly faster put a smile on my face; All the more since I had been riding about in the "rain" traction control mode for about an hour. If you haven't been on a S1k let me explain that rain mode really puts a damper on the fun side of things (but it could save a life and I love the way it keeps wheelies from being a big problem). Getting the rev limiter defused is pretty high on my priorities. It happens at 600 miles. If it weren't for bad weather it would be happening tomorrow...my third day of ownership. Saying this bike is a joy to ride is an understatement since, for one reason, I wanted it so bad. But by way of another more resonable explanation is its because its such a great bike. Of all the reviews I've read, I can't reall not even one negative word written. This is a cornering forum. This bike is all about cornering and does so in a silky smooth and precise manner. OK I guess I'm getting a bit carried away but suffice to say, I love the bike and any and all words of advise and information would be most appreciated.
  8. I'm now a proud S1000RR owner as of yesterday. My Busa started shimming in the front end after I put 23k miles on it year last year...did I love that bike! I realized I didn't want to turbo a bike with that much mileage as I would have to go all the way down to the main bearings. So there was only one choice for a replacement and that was BMW. Its the only bike I would spend a bunch of money on as nothing else has the bang for the buck. Since I asked the Chief some time back should I modify the Busa or get a liter bike, I thought some members would get a kick out of these facts and I have to say the Beemer is a joy to corner and turns that were a major challenge for me to get through at speed are now just places where I can twist the throttle with authority. It would be great to hear from owners and members who have ridden them at School to help me understand what more I have to look forward to
  9. As an add to my previous response I realize now that the most important part of leaning is not how far you can lean but how fast you get through the turn. Leaning is only as good as its an aide to this goal. Thanks again Keith.
  10. Thanks Kai, I'm little nervous because I really thought I had it together and then I realized I completely missed the concept of quick flick turning. Its a big mistake but if I don't work it in by School time, I'll just have to learn it then. Its just embarrassing since I've been saying how well I've absorbed the concepts from the book and video. Its a little silly but that's how it is. Again thanks! Nic
  11. This article might have been easier for me to understand if it had been titled Coaching Correct Turn Entry Speed/ Come to CSS. The drug analogy made it harder for me but it did get my "attention".
  12. Things have changed and I'm attending! Very excited and wondering if anyone else who reads this will be attending the session for Monday and Tuesday August 26-7. I'd really like to chat it up with anyone who is so we could have some early comraderie. Thanks.
  13. Soft Science covers a lot of this material and I'm just starting to get deeper into it now that I have Twist II on cd downloaded into my iPhone and listen while I'm riding. The results are very very good. I realize Soft Science might not lend itself to being put on cd but I wish I had it anyway. I can hardly wait for my upcoming two levels so I can get the coaching I need.
  14. Really starting to hit my pace in Motorcycle Road Racing and looking forward to my on track time August 26-7.

I am flabbergasted by how much I've learned by simply studying Keith's media and from participating in the forums. Thank you all for the knowledge and effort you've directed toward me. I can only guess how much better I will be after hands on in person Coaching.

My new S1k is amazing. Wish I had known about them long ago.

  15. Third method: Shift without clutch using throttle control...wickedly effective but watch out you don't blow your shaft; It better be good and so with your chain. It takes some finesse but I highly recommend it. If your good you can up and downshift this way although I usually use my clutch from first to second because of the ratios and torque. I've got massive torque and xtra weight on my bike/rider combo. Hope this is enlightening and not coming off as bravado. Keith mentions using this method I on either up or down (don't recall which) in one of his Twist books I believe; Also a chance its in Soft Science.
  16. Absolutely where I'm at right now. Thanks Coach
  17. Great, Alway's helpful. Nic
  18. Thanks stroker, I have a Lieutenant friend who I think will enjoy that one.
  19. Great Dylan, I'm so glad you're carrying on your Dad's work.
  20. My wife is asking me why I have to have the "danger" aspect in my life and I'm having a hard time coming up with an answer that will be both honest and satisfy her. Some days, like today, I wonder what the heck made me take some of the chances I took. In meditation i sometimes decide that a particular thing is not something I should be doing and remove it from my repertoire of skills.
  21. I can't understand why my chicken strips are wider on the left than the right. I suspect beside the preponderance of right-handed clover-leafs may have something to do with it. After looking at this article I started having a lot of success with using my bars better and also from hanging off a little more. Now I see I can get around corners I thought were nearly impossible with just the right arm. Eiirik...your videos helped a whole lot with especially one point...the two fingered clutch method. Over all, I'm getting much better balance in both right and left handed turns.
  22. Is it true Level 1 has a lot of no brake riding?
  23. What a fine ride I had today after your help!
  24. I had a medical issue which is currently under review and its looking like I'm going to make my camp. Hyabusa.org is considering whether to send our regional group on the 27th. I'm rightfully excited as Cobie has been helping me make this possible. The CSS Office has been exceptionally helpful.
