  1. Hi there, I have a technical question. I am intending on removing the cat on my s1000rr to put a full exhaust line (bike will be track only), simply changing the mid-pipe. Guys at BMW tell me that I should get the HP Race ECU...which is not exactly cheap ! Now the question is...Does removing the cat for a race mid-pipe actually REQUIRES a switch in ECU ? Or can I change the mid-pipe and then wait to have some more $$$ to change the ECU ? Is running the bike with a cat-free line with the OEM ECU damageable to the bike ? Sorry for the naive question...still learning !!!
  2. Hi ! I am spending quite some fun time with a buddy of mine who has an HP4...we had a question though. The DDC computer is right in the front of the bike, in the front fairing...It sounds like a strange place to put this as it is quite a vulnerable place ! In addition, it makes his bike incompatible with a number of race fairing sets, which are slightly too small to fit that computer box. Anybody here who has an HP4 and moved the computer box ? Where ? Anything that would suggest the DDC computer box MUST stay there ? That would be really helpful. Thanks !
  3. Hi there, Now i am the lucky owner of a used s1000rr that I am turning into a track bike. I was about putting engine protections, which requires taking some screws out of the engine plate, and read on a BMW servicing note that these screws are replaced every time. So now I am becoming paranoid and I don't dare to go forward, as I really don't want to snap one of them inside the engine! Are these screws really one time use ? I have all the info to put them back with the right tightening torque...but I am perplex about this "one time usage" thing. Anybody has some info about this ? Thanks !
  4. Hi, It was great to have the brakes, throttle, speed etc...data during the course, coupled with the video. I was wondering what system you use for that. Data logger seem to be quite complex and...expensive. And for the time being, I would not need so much information...so I was wondering what you use. Thanks !
  5. Done ! Laguna Seca in April and Sonoma in November...Happy camper :)
  6. Working on my calendar...registration asap !
  7. Blipping when downshifting worked for me but not always great. I saw the vid of Joe Roberts on this thread and tried it the way he does (2 middle fingers on the brake). Works well for me ! OK, it can probably still improve but it is already so much better !
  8. Curious...what were the major modifications that were made ? I can imagine that all the fairing would make it lighter...then maybe better suspensions ? I am curious...
  9. Thanks for the input. I don't have really specific questions about it. I was just curious, as BMW talks a lot about it, but I sometimes read racers that say they prefer using more standard systems. So I was just curious. Thanks !
  10. Hello ! Been reading, for fun, dreaming about my next track day ! So, it seems that there is some controversy about how good the DDC is for real racing... Just curious, what do the experts / HP4 owner and racers think about this ?
  11. Seems to work now ! Going through the error message, it was just that the user exceeded the allowed storage quota ! Looking forward to some cool pics ! Thanks a lot for the help. Damien
  12. etchphoto@usa.net gets me an error email back...they may have changed their address. I will try to google him to find a contact info. If someone has any idea that woudl be fantastic. Thanks ! Damien
  13. Hi, During the 2-day camp at NJMP on August 27 and 28, a photograph was there to make pictures of all the riders. The course was quite intense so I did not quite get the time to go through his pictures to pick some of me riding. I left him my email, group and bike number as he told me I could pick the pictures afterwards from a website I believe. No news since (but he may be sorting out all the pictures ! He made a lot and it's probably quite some work !), and I am worried he may have a hard time reading my hand-written email address. Any body knows how to contact him ? Thanks a lot ! Damien
  14. Dear all, New on the forum...just registered after my first time on a track ever, which I did with CSS at New Jersey Motorsports Park at the end of August. I am from France, lived in the US (New York) for a while and then moved back to France to work... But I am going quite often to the US for work. So following the advice of a friend of mine who is an experienced racer, I decided to hijack a working trip to New York to go for my first track experience with the CSS crew... I don't know where to start. It was probably one of the most exciting, thrilling, addictive, fun thing I have ever done. Everything was fantastic. The organisation was just flawless. And after just two days, I was just surprised... I just did not think that it was possible to progress so much in such a short time. Perfect briefings by Dylan, followed by track sessions....just great. But the main thing is the following: progressing is one great thing...sure...but what is much better than that is the fact that I enjoyed every single lap better than the previous one, thanks to the riding technique I was being taught. Anyway... I would also like to specially thank Gerry, my coach during these two days. Besides being just a super nice guy, his coaching was perfect. I enjoyed working with him a lot, and I hope I will work with him again ! He was patient (you know, my first time on a track so I cannot say I started very well (-: !), his advices were spot on, he was fun, he was helping me analyse myself my mistakes to try and correct them (which is by far the best way to go !)...well...Mr. Gerry, if you ever read this, I cannot thank you enough ! Let's go for levels 3 & 4 ! Conclusions: I am totally hooked. I am now back in France, looking for getting racing gear for myself to go and ride on tracks here...and I am looking forward my next trip to the US for another 2-day camp with CSS ! Thanks again to the whole crew, Gerry, Dylan, Mike, Pete, Lara, Connor, Josh...and all the others (sorry I don't remember all the names !). You guys made me discover something completely new and just amazing. Cheers Damien
