Most likely the reason you are allergic to leather is, your metal allergy. A form of Chromium is used in the leather tanning process.

I think the answer to your question is, Hotfoot is one of the coaches at CSS and they ALL are great.

I could not agree more with Hotfoot. I thought I would be the oldest guy at CSS, and to my surprise quite a few were older and few more about my age, 61. The camaraderie is such that age is not a factor at all. Be somewhat fit, since the 2 day school program can be demanding for some people. Sign up and put a check mark next to that bucket list. Also, you have great taste on bikes. 😉 I have a 2017 Speed Triple R ABS.

Since Hotfoot answered most of your questions, I will expand on the accommodation and transportation. I have been twice to LVMS (nice flat track) and as recent as this year in April. On both occasions I rented a car, because I don't like waiting. It is quite expensive, plus gas, but again, I don't like waiting. I stayed at the strip on the best room deal at the time The Mirage and the Trump Hotel. I don't drink, smoke or gamble, so I appreciated the stay at the Trump Hotel. No smell of old spilled beer, smoke, body fluids on the stained carpets or noisy and obnoxious partiers/gamblers. You don't have to walk 1/4 mile from the parking lot to the elevator; it has Valet Parking for all guests. All hotels at the strip are very close to Highway 15, which going North takes you to the track. Take Exit 54, then make a right on Speedway Blvd. and another right on Checkered Flag Lane. The track entrance will be far down the road on your right. You will see the CSS trucks before the entrance, but not by the entrance. Eatery for me is at Joe's Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab for all 3 nights. Prepare for cold mornings and nice afternoons. Have fun.

Hope you like hot and Humid. 😉 I only know New York City summer, but Jersey is a stone throw away from NYC and doubt is that much different.

I will add that prior to going to a CSS, I had been riding since 1988. And I can tell you, I have survived playing the Russian roulette with 5 out of 6 bullets in the chambers. Going to school is a must to enjoy riding safely in an already dangerous hobby. Mostly initiated by a cager, but our SR is what ends up getting us into a crash. The more I learn in school, the more I enjoy my SMR's.

I've done the Barber Motorsport Park and Las Vegas track twice now. I love those 2 tracks in my short riding experience with CSS, but I can say unequivocally that The Ridge is my favorite track now. Heard many say, that The Ridge is Barber on steroids and I agree. I will be back next year for sure.

Agree, Dave Moss has a video on gear selector and rear brake lever position in relation to your foot.

My Gixer and Speed Triple R have been tuned by DM via Facetime and email photos sent after setup and test riding. As far as changes, I say set up for your street riding style, road conditions, season, tires hardness, etc. Barber MSP 1/2 camp day was amazing with picture perfect weather.

I highly recommend you to watch the suspension videos of Dave Moss on YouTube. They opened my eyes not only of possibilities, but to comfort, performance and SAFETY by tuning a bike to fit you. From handlebar position, levers angulation and finger distance, foot pegs height, tire pressures, maintenance DIY and finally suspension adjustments and understanding. You don't how much you didn't know, until you watch his videos. There is a subscription, that is worth paying the year for the amount of knowledge you get. It sure did change my approach to street riding completely and it's not an exaggeration. I'm up (3:30am!!, insomnia) getting ready for Barber 1/2 day camp today and later in the week the 2 days camp. Weather seems to be great today.

Add to that, if your exit is a little too wide, they can run into you or you into them. Recently at Las Vegas, I got shitless scared on my nemesis corner #5. I usually run wide, and I got passed on the outside by a very fast rider. If I had ran a little wider than the usual, we both would've been on the ground for sure. No names, but he had issues with every bike he rode that day (6-7). He was a very nice guy, very very fast, but too risky on track.

Eyes tend to get dry when I ride, especially when spirited, because you barely blink and the Texas dry hot air. Watch the eye video of Professional riders on track at CSS. The eyes are wide open and you don't see them blink. It explains it for me.

Very light smoke tint on Rx glasses and darkest tint face shield for the blistering sun of Texas. I also put eyedrops pre-ride and post-ride, to lubricate and you would be surprise at the soothing effects.

Come on now Jay, you are a Taekwondo practitioner and they use a lot of leg kicking. So you are fit for the 2 day school. Take it from a Karate and BJJ practitioner, plus 61 healthy years young. Stretch, hydrate and have fun. Are you by any chance doing Barber in a few weeks? I signed up for a single day camp and a 2 day camp.

Short answer, yes. Day one, Level 1 and then you graduate to Level 2 on the second day, given you don't crash or worse.
