  1. I guess that all depends on when you notice you're going in too hot... If you notice it right away you can just stay off the gas and scrub off some speed while turning because you do lose a lot of speed while turning if you're not on the gas at all. You could trail break into the corner and try to scrub off speed that way and get back on the gas out of it... If you notice you're going too fast when its time to hit the appex... well all I can say is turn in and try it. If you give up and run off the track you'll most likely go down and lose a lot of possistions if not be compleatly out of the race. You might as well try to take the corner and see if you can make it. What have you got to lose?
  2. I would think that you would want to be as far forward as possible. Having more of your weight would allow you to get more throttle on to get the 60% weight rear/40% front. This is what I've been shown by other racers. I have no idea how CSS would teach it because I have yet to take one of their schools. I hope to change that very soon though.
  3. Are there any exersizes anyone recomends to keep the muscles in shape needed for racing that you would recomend for those of us stuck in the great white north? Besides taking vacation and heading south .
  4. I havn't been ride for a real long time but body stearing just seems like your are trying to work against the bike rather than with it. I find that I'm much more stable if I just press on the handle bar in the direction I want to go and lean my body weight over the side of the bike. Leaning IMHO doesn't make the bike turn quicker but changes the combined center of gravity thus making you have to lean the bike less to make the same turn. Green Knight
  5. I decided to go with the ZX-9R. Actually I found a deal I couldn't pass up on it, thats why. $5,900 for a '02 ZX-9R, comes with about $1,500 of extras too. I think I'll go into her easy though cause I know it will have a heck of a lot more power than my old ZX-7. Green Knight
  6. I'm relativly new to riding. I have had a 93 ZX-7 for about a year now (put about 7,000 miles on it). I got it because it was cheap and I was told it could be a good learner. I am now considering getting a new bike. Currently my budget could probably afford up to a $7,000 or $8,000 bike. My question is: Is there a bike that I should be looking for with my skill level and size? As far as my skill level goes I would consider myself below average to average (average being very generous) to most of you guys. I love taking corners fast and I push myself everytime I go into one. As far as my size. I'm about 6'2" and 240 lbs. Is there a particular bike size I should be looking at for my new one? Thanks for any comments Green Knight
