  1. Will Glad to hear that you are recovering. I got back on a bike at Thunderhill on Sunday for the first time since my crash. The lefts were fine but the rights were a pain....literally. Perhaps I should find a Nascar oval to ride? See you back at the track soon.
  2. Assuming you've got the basics covered I would highly recommend the CODE RACE school. After many track days and schools I went to see whether I was ready to race and had a blast. Not only did it teach me racing techniques but it was also run like a race day so I knew what to expect. I was still bummed to get beaten by Tommy Hayden in the end of day race but I guess he's had more practice
  3. Nice going Will and sorry to hear about your woes.
  4. Nice job Will and thanks for the help loading the trailer! Si
  5. I had never been to the Big Track at Willow Springs until this past weekend. I had seen it on the 'Twist' video but other than looking at turns 4 to 8 from the Streets I had no real idea which way the track went. To get familiar with the track I did these drills : 1. Reference points 2. Changing lines 3. No brakes After getting an idea of where the track went in the first session I went out and found some brake and turn markers. When I had a good set I went out and ran out wide and in tight in some of the more tricky corners and then tried running a few laps without brakes. By the end of the day my times were 1:34 (lap record is 1:19 I believe) and on race day I had dropped to 1:30. The next time there I'll be re-doing the above drills and working on the specific corners that I know I am being a wimp in
  6. After the School turned me from a wobbly street rider to average track day rider I started racing CCS in December 2002 on a 996 to see what it was like. Many $$$ later I have just finished the whole 2003 CCS season (Pacific and Southwest regions) and took two class titles in SuperTwins and a 2nd overall in GTO. Started racing AFM in May 2003 and took top novice in Open Twins in July. Just completed my first ever WSMC race weekend (and my first ever race weekend as an expert) on a Ducati 998R with a 2nd place in BOTT Heavyweight and a 5th place in Formula Twins. For the 2004 season I am going to run the whole AFM season (Open Twins, Open GP and 750 Superbike), the whole CCS Pacific season (SuperTwins, GTO, Heavyweight Superbike and Unlimited GP) and now that I have 'discovered' the Big Track WSMC (Formula Twins, BOTT Heavyweight and possibly 750 SuperBike). My name is Simon and I have an addiction problem Unlike Travis I could not beat Will even if he was on a scooter.
  7. Level 4 is definitely not a limit. After doing each of the other levels at least twice I did Level 4 about a dozen times and each time I worked on a different set of drills.
  8. I was passed by Will in the GTO race coming out of turn 2 when he had his off-track excursion in turn 3. As I was entering the skid pan (on the same lap) Will shot past and took off. I was running 1:27s on my wife's 748 and Will made it look like I was standing still I had an on-board video set-up that I was trying out for the first time but forgot to turn it on It would have been an excellent sample of the level of Will's riding skill.
