  1. Well, we may be working on our wet-track riding skills... At least it's going to be warm enough for rain and not the white stuff (which was falling this morning at 7,000') Really looking forward to the class...rain or shine! Cheers, Kevin
  2. Are you planning on having the Lean & Skid Machines at Reno? The day is approaching fast...gettin' really excited! Kev
  3. The more I read on this little forum, the more I realize the relationship between riding and martial arts is quite parallel. Target fixation will get you knocked out, or at the minimum, your reaction time to movement is substantially compromised. In the thoughtful article from "The Guru", the discussion centers around basics...again a tremendous parallel to the arts. Constant practice of basics produces smooth, seemingly effortless, powerful movements. The master swordsman of old would refer to "Mushin" or "no mind" the relaxed, yet totally focused mindset, only gained by years of dilligent practice, courage and discipline. Regards, Kev
  4. I live about an hour away from this track and we had a touch of snow yesterday. While ice racing looks like fun, I was hoping to stick to the asphalt As a heads up to anyone else attending, you may want to bring along some layers of clothing. It tends to be seriously cold in the morning and by noon you're looking for the A/C. Welcome to Nevada. It also gets a tad windy, but that just adds to the excitement. Drink LOTS of water. It's dry here and you don't notice the sweat. The track is nearly new and in pretty good shape by all reports. It's long and fast. You are at 4,200' so expect a little power drop. Reno's a little less than an hour away and there's a few hotels in Fernley too. Quiet little town that rolls up the sidewalks early. Questions for CSS staff: I know you supply evrything in the 2-day school, but can I use my own helmet & leathers (1-piece racing type) ? Also, I have a possible late registrant, a local judge...any slots still available? See you there
  5. Well... The track is essentially brand new. There are very few improvements at the track. There's a large MX track and a dirt oval on location as well. You are at about 4200' elevation, so expect a reduction in power. Fernley is a little town and you are in Nevada, which is genuine old west. It ain't California. People are friendly, but pretty conservative for the most part. You might find a latte, however a good steak is far easier to find. There's a few budget hotels in the area. Fernley's about 10 minutes north of the track, Reno about 1/2 hour west. I'll be bringing my motorhome so I don't have to pack. If you're attending the May 2-day event, I'll see you there. If you like steak, I'll share that too. My biggest concern about the school right now is weather. We had several inches of snow yesterday and the school is in about 3 weeks. Rain is a challenge to ride in, snow is altogether different...trust me. You can see an aerial photo of the track here: www.reno-fernleyraceway.com See you there.
