Hey guys, I am desperately searching for decent riding buddies! I have been on many rides with guys before but have hated it due to them turning the ride into a race (hmmmmm pissing competition) and I have either had to pull out and go it alone, or else I have pushed myself beyond my limits to keep up and increased my risk of an accident. I dont want to ride the roads like they are a race track (thats what track days are for). I live in Windsor NSW Australia. Any recommendations or offers out there? sad.gif

Cool - thanks for taking the time to let me know that. Much appreciated! biggrin.gif

Try Meetup.com and if they don't have anything, you can start a group, or sign up for an e-mail alert when someone else starts a motorcycle, touring, travel, riding group in your area.

Yes well Phillip Island is definitely something I want to travel down to one day (MotoGP of course) but not sure if I will actually make it as I have no-one to travel with. Its a bit daunting to do all on your own! :)

Looking forward to getting a heap of riding tips to improve myself (God I need a heap!!! Lol). Cheers

Your welcome to join us (if you don't mind riding with Italian motorcyles). I've gone on a few large group rides and alot of people get pushed beyond their ability - at least someone will crash. We ride in a smaller group 4-6 riders and do no push each other to go faster etc. Its not worth doing that and loose your license or loose a friend. Riding in a smaller group at least we know each ones ability and riding style.

Thats sounds great - ta. As for minding riding with Italian bikes - well I am Italian myself so they are the best of the best as far as Im concerned .....as long as you guys can handle a jap bike tagging along! :)

I have set up a small ride to Wisemans on Sunday 19th September if you want to join us. We are meeting at Maccas at McGraths Hill at 9.30am. Not sure yet if we are just headed to Wisemans or if we will continue beyond that. Am trying to get the group together and havent met anyone face to face yet - will leave it til the day to see what people want to do.

Cheers

I've got my niece 8th birthday on that sunday, but I will be up the Old Road in the afternoon. So if your are heading home that way give me a PM.

No probs. We are riding in the morning and as far as Im aware we are just going to Wisemans then back again so Im assuming the ride will be pretty much over by the afternoon - unless of course the other riders want to cross the ferry and ride up further. Wont really know until the day.

Why do I suddenly have a compelling need to eat at Outback Steak House?

I did the complete loop from Hornsby to Wiseman Ferry, cross the river and ended on the Old Road at the Pie in the Sky on sunday. Mind you we did take our convertible for a leisurely drive and a nice picnic besides the river.

Due to the wind on saturday, there was alot of twigs and leaves left on the road. This should clear up for your run next sunday.

DId a ride to Wisemans on Sunday - met with the Sydney Riders Group for the charity BBQ and there were over 150 bikes which was pretty cool. Was looking at a Wisemans run again next Sunday...BUT have been invited to join a group to Bathurst....not sure which I will do yet.

Dont think I will join any more rides. Went on one tonight and there were just too many cowboys out there turning the ride into a bloody testosterone fuelled pissing contest. I think I will go back to riding on my own. Stay safe and enjoy.

Hi, yes its a sad fact of life, you get a bunch of people thinking that they are all Rossi (even though they have sh!t skills) and they treat the road as a racetrack. They put themselves and other road users in a situation that is too dangerous. That's why I only like to ride in a small group and who don't egg each other on. A proper rider knows when and where to ride and knows how to control their urges. I've gone on enough large groups rides (even not so large) to put me off riding with people I don't know for life.

Like I said the invitation is still there just send a PM and you're welcome to ride with us. I'm also teaching a newbie how to and how not to ride, so it's possibly a good time to ride with us as we are going at a moderately slower pace. I get a satisfaction knowing that I taught a newbie how to ride safe and ride properly without endangering themselves and others.
