  1. That's unfortunate to hear. Josh was my level 3 rider coach at Barber last week, he is such a cool guy. I wish him all the best on a speedy recovery.

    Thanks for the heads-up, Shane.

Our prayers are with Josh and his name is now on several more prayer lists.

Based on Eric Dorn's write up on the WERA page... I've never met Josh, but, I'd sure like to. "Our sport needs 100x guys like Josh..."? I'd say our planet needs 100x more guys like Josh.

PS - Having had my left hand essentially torn off the end of my arm, crushing the distal ends of the ulna and radius, "horribly comminuted wrist joint" as the bone doctor put it, and currently recovering from a C6 dislocation, crushing a nerve, leaving my left arm half numb and half in excruciating pain for two weeks now, with no prognosis... maybe it will get better... maybe not... I have some idea. What we give for our sport. I came here tonight to write a response to Misti's words about how many friends I have lost, how many friends I have watched die on the track in real time right in front of my living eyes... and now this...

sorry, that's enuf one handed typing tonight. i should stop before I get too maudlin...

    Get well soon, Josh.

  2. The riders are first divided into the white and yellow groups, 14 each. Each group is then divided into level I & II, level 3, and level 4. The white & yellow groups alternate track/ classroom time. Everyone in each of the 2 groups rides at the same time. Sessions last 15 minutes and you will only have one track coach for the day. Coaches from day 1 to day 2 may or may not be the same. See you there!

I will be at Barber this weekend doing Level 1 and Level 2 on Saturday and Sunday. This will be my first time with CSS. How is the day usually ran? Since there are 4 levels are there going to be four separate track session for each level or are some of the levels combined? I assume each level has its own class room session. Do we have one track coach for the day or do the coaches rotate in and out from session to session? How long are the track session and the classroom sessions?

    Thanks,

    Shane

  3. Not sure if this is the right place for this topic but here goes anyway. After attending school at Barber I am dead set on getiing my own track bike this winter. Problem is,I'm not sure which way to go. My street bike is an Aprilia RSVR. It handles like a dream but everyone I've talked to and everything I've read saysthey can't compete with jap inline 4's. I previously owned a late 90's gixxer but the bike was too bulky. The newer models seem to be slimmer, much like my ape.

The ZX6's we rode were nice and handled well but I would be looking at a ZX10. I've heard R1's are monsters for power but are more difficult to turn in. And I know absolutely nothing about Hondas. Any thoughts or advice is much appreciated.

  4. I recently attended Barber for the level I & II camps. All I can say is WOW! I have never had an experience as amazing. Everything from the professionalism to the ease of talking to the guru himself was awesome. I had never been on a track before and now I can't wait to go back. I am still flat out amazed at how much can be learned and how improved my riding was in just 2 days. A big thanks to Keith, Cody, Cobie and especially my coach Yoohey!
