  1. Well whats the point of the top guys going out and pushing the boundaries if we are not going to learn from them. Do we out of some sense of unworthiness not allow ourselves to aim for the same standards, sure many will not get to the top level but why not be on the current best path to improvement. P.S. My world domination plans are on hold right now _
  2. In The Soft Science of Road Racing Motorcycles the World Plan is described as the minimum requirement to compete at the top level. Has this changed since the book was published in 86 or is the World Plan still the most precise riding style developed? -----------------------
  3. You would already be carrying a small amount of throttle mid corner to balance the bike's suspension - this is explained brilliantly in Keith's book A Twist of the Wrist 2 - for the exit you are gradually picking the bike up and at the same time gradually increasing the throttle to match the rear tire's increasing contact patch
  4. The school shifters are set to street pattern (unless otherwise requested) check out this thread http://www.superbikeschool.com/bbs/index.p...act=ST&f=4&t=87
  5. Keith's article on bad sides left or right http://www.superbikeschool.com/bbs/index.p...t=ST&f=11&t=111 really opened the door for me on being able to crank the bike over with ease, especially moving with the bike in concert with its motion. I could get my knee down already but understanding the concepts in this article (and practising the drill a few times) allows me to throw the bike over with confidence and maintain a loose grip on the bars. If you are really serious you could repeat to yourself daily "I move with the bike in concert with its motion" (or whatever similar statement tickles your fancy) untill it is in your head (do the drill too)
  6. Yeah I remember one fast guy at a national meeting who was putting grease on his rear disc to stop the thing from locking up
  7. I guess what Kenny means is to get weight on the rear tire before the front tire has a chance to slide This can be accomplished by carrying some throttle into the turn (eg Getting off the front brake and giving it some throttle as you are turning in) Hope this is useful
  8. In Kenny Roberts Seniors book he recommends putting a worn tyre on the front of your dirtbike to practice control of a front wheel that is sliding (with a good tyre on the rear) then you can get used to backing it in and getting the throttle on early to take the weight off the sliding front. You can also put a worn rear on with a good front to practise control of a rear that has gone off. Emphasis is placed on repeated practice till the actions you want become second nature.
  9. I don't think you need to flip the bars straight after having countersteered into a corner, it seems the bars will straighten out by themselves once the countersteering pressure is let off.
  10. I was wondering if any of the instructors use the 1 up 5 down gear change pattern on their bikes and also if you set up the hire bikes with reverse gear change for racers who are attending the school? I would also be interested to know whether the majority of racers out there are using standard road gear change or the upside down method....
