  1. Finished levels 1 & 2 at Streets of Willow (april 21 & 22 - 2014) - Special shout out and thanks to the staff at Superbike school, they run a well oiled machine. Also want to give a shout out to my instructor James and they other track instructors who helped me during the course. You all rock! Can't wait to come back for next levels.

I had gone riding the weekend before and then the weekend following my class. I felt completely different on my bike the weekend after and was stoked to be riding again. Granted my bike was no beast like the BMW's, but I felt I was able to realize more of its potential. I still have more to learn and practice, but I feel i'm on a healthy path.

Here is a before and after Superbike School pic of me on my bike coming around the big hairpin 'Snake' on Mulholland. Sorry for the watermark, I've bought many pics from the Rockstore photos guy and will be buying more later.

  2. I'm taking the 2-day course at SoW this April and want to be comfortable as possible. I'm betting it will be a bit warm but not too hot.

This will be my first time wearing a full suit and wanted to know what if anything should I be wearing under the suit. I've seen some base layer stuff out there on the market but not sure if I should wear a t-shirt or invest in a quality undergarment. I already have a pair of Dianese high-rise socks, but what else should I consider using?

  3. My first 2-day course is in April, I would like to train prior to avoid any fatigue during the school. Are there any excersises or stretching I should be doing on / off my bike to prepare for the school?

Currently when I ride in canyons I find myself slightly shifting my butt and sticking my knee out before entering a corner. I find it takes less energy and gives me better control when leaning over the bike. Although BP is probably not covered in this 2-day course, If I find myself practicing it will it affect my training or should I avoid it and just keep my knees tucked in the whole time?

  4. I can't offer much to help other than with my own story. I was taking CSS Level 3 at VIR a few years ago and I crashed while riding my own bike (which was my street bike and not a dedicated track bike). I filed a claim with Progressive and they paid the claim on the basis I was receiving advanced training and therefore I wasn't negligent. Progressive was superb to work with during the claim process and never once hinted they wouldn't help me. Not only did they pay the claim on the bike, they reimbursed me for my helmet (which was brand new) which was damaged in the crash (I impacted more or less head first). I've no idea how other companies would handle a similar claim but I can say Progressive was outstanding.

If they covered your bike, do you think they will cover you if you wreck one of the school bikes?

  5. Hello,

I've been riding off and on for 10 years on the street. The one thing on my bucket list is to drag a knee (maybe elbow) around a corner, something till this day I would not dare to do on the streets. I always knew when I did do it I would do it on the track, and perfect it there as well. I've ridden all types of bikes but only owned really fast ones :)

I feel I'm at 60% of my target when it comes to comfort when leaning in corners. 90% for high speed cruising and 70% for braking. I guess how this translates is I need to further develop my corning and braking techniques. Which is why I'm here. I've heard about this school for some time and finally have some money saved up for 2014. I'm hoping to take some courses on one of the BMW bikes and maybe bring one of my own bikes into the mix afterwards.

I look forward to reading about your experiences and picking your brains to prepare me for my own.

    Excited to be here.

    Cheers!
