  1. I recently would have said the Hip Flick (LV3), but I spent much time at slower speeds getting it nailed down. Now I would have to say maintaining the Wide View (LV2) when going at pace. It can be done and I do it, but I really really have to tell myself to do it. Our eyes have their own agenda..!! Hopefully in the future we can genetically modify the eyes to stop narrowing our attention. :D

  2. This is definitely a tough one, I really like them all. :) I think to be fair, I'll choose a track on the East and a track in the West.

East: New Jersey Motorsports Park. Why? Because I like it. I like the pavement, the curbing and the flow of it. Specifically, I enjoy the little elevation changes and blind turns, along with the back section - which is really techinical. There are so many lines you can run through there - it never gets old trying a new one. Plus the S1000 can wheelie onto the front straight at a high rate of speed!

West: I have to agree with Kristi and Lyle - Streets of Willow Springs. Why? It's an excellent training track. Fast esses, slow esses, blind turns, elevation, tricky double apexes, a bowl turn and it bumpy. Bumpy! Yes, it really test your L1 skills. Actually with the types of turns, it tests every drill we have. Plus it's an easy track to coach at.

I also like Eastern Creek in Australia. It reminds me a bit of NJ and just plain fun!

    Cheers,

  3. Just an FYI for you UK guys, I had a personal pack of wipes in my back pocket both days I was at Silverstone. Interestingly enough, so did Dylan. ;)

Now would you want to do that...? Are we brits unclean or something....?

    Explain yourself young man..!

    Bullet

Well, it was workable when we went to Australia and had to piss on the walls in very unclean lavatories. Plus having those unclean body parts on a long flight can be a bit discomforting. ;)

  4. LOL, "compulsive wiper", you are ruthless Stuman!

Leave it to Stuman to figure out how to get that done.

Now, "stuman" according to my understanding of the British rules on nicknames, is missing some of the key ingredients.

"Geek" would be too generic too. We'll have to work on this some.

    CF

Thanks Stu, that is exactly what I was looking for.

I can post some pretty strange things now and again, so you guys are in for a treat. Hopefully you'll find some of these gems now and again.

  5. Classic thread!

I know you guys are aware of Mikey's fondness of a nanna nap. Having seen it for myself in Europe I suggest maybe there's a nickname in it. Dude falls asleep on trains, on buses, planes, cars........transport is his sedative.

Nanna? or maybe just Nan for short?

I like that Adam, but I we don't know what a nanna nap is here in the States. But your right, he falls asleep everywhere!

  6. T-SHIRT explanation:

Alright, because I agree with the UK guys, on nicknames are supposed to be something

    about you.

Back before we had uniforms, we (the staff) would where Cornering shirts, this could be

    t-shirts, long-sleeve or tank tops.

My first year with the school, I got what most people would call a severe farmers tan.

And I made the mistake of wearing a tank top to a couple of the schools where some of

the UK boys were at, showcasing said farmer's tan. Hence T-SHIRT, as I looked like I was

    wearing a white T-shirt permanently.

Never really took on with the US staff, and then I got T-Bone. But most of the UK guys, still

call me T-SHIRT, even a few who weren't around for the original naming picked it up.

    I like it.

  7. You Boys,

    The rules:

As Andy rightly pointed out (although he does have several nicknames but i fear they may be censored on this forum) You don't get to pick your name.

It has to come from someone else, preferably because of something you have or have not done, a certain characteristic, the more subtle the better.

I will give you a recent example to get you started.

One of our most recent nicknames for a coach is NEMO, whilst chatting with our mechanic 'GLOOM' a new coach Lee (NEMO) passed comment to GLOOM who replied in the vernacular with **** off CODHEAD. Now this will men nothing to you guys and didn't mean much to us but but CODHEAD is a local insult between people from GLOOM'S area and LEE'S, cod fishing is very big in that part of the world. Now we wrestled with codhead as a nickname but could not in all professionalism introduce anyone as codhead, so the floor was opened to expand on this. BUTCH came up with the inspired reference to a naive fish always getting in harms way and hence NEMO.

There is no way LEE would have picked NEMO which is also why its a perfect nickname.

You can not give an attractive woman BAYWATCH as it shows no effort, originality, patience, deference to the honour of nicknames, due consideration and quite frankly is just lazy.

So step up boys and raise the bar.

Trevor's T-SHIRT is a good start get him to explain it and aim high.

    Best

    Jet

    Right on Jet!

Cobie and the rest of the gang, this should be the "hat" or policy if you will, on nicknaming. Anything done outside this I personally will not accept.

    Cheers,

  8. Eric I will start it off for you.

EA Sports - it's in the game!

    or

Pilot - why? because he is one dummies.

For me unfortunately I got my nickname (T-bone) because of an incident, that I would rather not talk about... I told you I didn't want to talk about it!

Another nickname that I have which was actually given me by our cousins across that sea - T-Shirt, some of the blokes in the UK still call me that.

Not trying to give myself a nick name just in full disclosure you understand.

Just for the record, Eric has 2 bars and is pending his 3rd. He has also earned a Silver star.

As far as a nickname, it will happen.

  9. *SIGH*

You Yanks just don't get it do you?

A nickname is something that is EARNED. You just cannot go about thinking them up, it happens as a result of something mor an obsevation that all agree on (good or bad).

Some people will NEVER have a nickname. I am one of them becuase I have a unique surname. My son Kit will never have one becuase of his unique first and second name.

    Andy 'Idiot' Ibbott

    I agree with Andy 100% :)

  10. Okay here we go... So this is my first post as a forum member, and I don't think there could have been a better topic.

I think we should start with the full-timers, heavy part-timers or those who already have a nickname. So I've adjusted "The List".

    KEY:

Red - names that have so far stuck.

    Yellow - proposed.

Green - my attempt to nickname.

    THE LIST:

James Toohey: Hammer - Because he beats on the bikes.

Lonnie Etter: Dawg - Not sure why.

Kristi M.: Hot Laps - She never does hot laps, but she picked the wrong day to do 5 in a row.

Pete: Wipes - Because I carry moist wipes with me almost everywhere.

    Cobie: ?

Keith: The Admiral - Goes without saying.

Dylan: Shades - Goes without saying.

    Stoney Landers: ?

Josh Galster: DC, Disney or Happy Feet Where do I start? For one he should have his own Disney show singing to preschoolers.

Trevor: T-Bone - ? I think Timmy named him that - some sort of buddy love.

Stuart Smith: Stuman - Goes without saying.

Will Eikenberry: MacGyver, Polar Bear - I don't know about you, but I wouldn't call him anything but Will. :)

Jason Paden: JT - We just call him JT right?

Andy Burnett: Claws - He's a climber and has big hands..?

Mike Smith: Relic - He's been working at CSS longer than Keith.

Mike Isbill: Norris - He has a better mustache than Chuck Norris, plus he was a cop.

Mike Pesicka: Bam-Bam - He looks like Bam-Bam from the Flinestones, and crashes bikes.

Jon Groom: Gramps - He is a grandfather.

Tim Johnson: Timmer - Not sure, again sounds like buddy love to me.

Greg Gorman: Gomer - Ask Lonnie, he made this up.

James Brown: Junior - Not sure how this came about.

Jeff Rozycki: Jefro - Goes without saying.

I was simply stumped on a few.

    Cheers,
