  1. Thanks for the information thats cool 4 days 4 levels it can be done. So I take it code race isn't restricted to a certain level in the school I thought you had to complete them all in order to enjoy that.I'm 27 and trying to make it to atleast 1 race by the time I'm 35 it's just a goal that I've always had.I feel I can race considering I've only owned and rode my bike for 5months and already hang with the guys in the canyon I want to go faster but in a safer enviroment. The school seems to be setup to be a good track coach to help along with the process. Once again thanks for the info I'll be putting a budget together to get to school asap.
  2. I plan on attending the firebird raceway 1 day school for level 1. I was just wondering is there any machinery I would use other than my bike that would require a deposit?I am also in process of repairing my bike from several spills I really want to get to this school if my plastics suffer from serious roadrash but on tight is that okay or do I need to fix those too?How long does it usually take to reach code race program?Whats the fastest anyone has moved through all the levels? And the last one which I doubt will happen because I'm not a quitter has anyone (who has decent riding skills I realize some people can't even drive down the street without having a panic attack) ever not been able to come to grasp with the teaching?Does the classrom translate as easy as TOTW2? I love that book.
  3. I'am proud to say I'am a new cult member I have eaten up all the tread side to side on my tires from canyon carving can't really get into the stunt scene(I'd rather highside a corner than wreck sitting on my windshield doing a wheelie), but I do some wicked wheelies but thats all you need in my book.To me it's all about when your taking a 70mph turn with a cliff on the side that you don't know where the bottom is. And I'am proud to say I have furthered my cult membership by receiving the roadracers bible thats what I call it. If you don't know you should it is TWIST OF THE WRIST 2. I got it for my 27th bithday and never in my life have I read a book that I can't put down the only time I want to put it down is at the end of the chapter, so I can jump on my bike and try it out.I admit I have a problem I am a speed and force cult memeber and I love it! Keith you are a truly blessed cult leader.
  4. Boy I sure wish I would of read this one alot sooner considering I just got home from work to find out the 2 times I almost wiped out from surprise tire spin in right corners to find it was oil. then I sat down and read this and find out I'am a guilty party of the 2-3 gear sudden drop at the last minute with one clutch movement oh well you live and you learn.
  5. Now this question comes from my previous set up question I slid my tire in a couple of turns at about 60, 70 in 3rd just cruisin but I was wondering is that a sign of excessive lean angle I dont think it was engine braking I had slowed down alot I'm on a mountain I'm not trying overtake a corner. Also my freind was on f4i 600 and we ran into another one and they just walked away from me is that because of the 600's cornering vs my beast of a tlr and would a gixxer 1000 perform better than my beast. I'm having thoughts since it feels like if I'm not hanging off the bike it won't turn even the simplest low speed corners.
  6. Thanks alot I love this place, can't wait to see what the school is like if the website contains this much info on tap!
  7. I went to the web site (and got some cool wallpapers!) and it helped but created another. Maybe it's stupid of me but what size rim would my bike come with 5.5" or 6"? I tried finding the info but couldn't find anything. I know there stock rims does it say on the rim? The article said that it will change the curve of the tire if a 190 is on anything smaller than a 6" rim. so do you think dunlops are better my freind switched to the d208 and loves it.
  8. I currently own a tlr I have just finished another day in the canyon. As I was turning there was a couple of times when I slid my rear while at one point it was knid of cool the other is that it wasn't intended and happened before the apex instead of after with the throttle. I was wondering could it be because I have 190 a guy at the honda shop told my freind that 180 or 185 was a better cornering tire being that the center was thinner and the side had more angled traction through the turn. I know my tires weren't cold I had a long ride there of srcub city cause when I get there it's all business. If it matters I'm running Michelen Pilots. Oh when I get back on the gas it grabs and I'm gone it's just a weird feeling making sure I have the best tire for saftey reasons to don't want to lose it on a corner in cliff if ya know what I mean.
  9. Thanks alot, your advice has been really helpful I did the best I have ever done in a canyon. I often found myself using the parking pullouts to let traffic get a head start before i started carving again. Still there is alot to be learned I will be going to school next year trying for two classes by the end of that year. I will be getting that book but this will do for now. Once again thanks my sunday ride was the best yet.
  10. I had recently asked for help on corner entry and found the advice helpful. My new question is that now that I am turning at a nice easy pace once I get used to the feeling how do I get that quick flip that I hear about. I know that theres got to be something because there is nothing quick about the flips I've been doing. But the least to say they are improving. I have a new tire so I can see exactly how much tire I'm using I have about 1/2" on each side left that has no wear. If this is a way you can tell how your leaning. If it is does that mean if I want to obtain that last part of the tire do I need to be on a track at full lean. If so that 1/2" is gonna have to wait until next year in Keith's class.
