Guest Guest Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 Could someone tell me what this is and how it benefits a bike and whats the down falls if any . Justa a noob Quote
cbr 929 Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 I'll assume we're talking about the chain. The number refers to the chain size. Most bikes come with a 525 or 530. Going to a smaller chain means less unsprung weight to put into motion. You would also need to go to 520 sprockets. In the case of my bike and the AFAM sprockets the rear sprocket is now aluminum, also making it lighter. The potential down side is that the aluminum sprocket will wear out faster than steel. Don't know for sure but I think there is something to be said for how effficiently the power gets transfered to the rear wheel with a 520 racing chain and sprockets. Hope this helps, Mike Quote
