  1. I'm glad it wasn't two days! I would hate to be responsible for that. "I knew when I started the count down that certain responsibilities came with the job. This count down is to important to be left to those not up to the task. The baton was passed and I must keep going till the end." Your words, not mine.
  2. Oh good-you're back!!! The pressure was devastating.
  3. ....drum roll please.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2cKS3-4Jtg SIXTEEN
  4. Oh....I don't know if I can handle the awesome responsibility.... Let's see. What do I have to do tomorrow.... Wake up Feed the critter Coffee Yoga Feed me Angeles Crest (avoid Mulholland/PCH-moped rally) Oooh...Honda shop is only open until 4....see if I make it back in time to test ride.... Chastise Ducati techs for not re-setting my clock-no, they're closed. E-mail??? Wonder if the D-store in Costa Mesa is open and how late.... I should clean something...wait, who am I kidding-I have no domestic skills. Wait. That damned gold chain they put on my bike-no. Should be cool for another couple hundred miles or so... Dinner plans Runyon Canyon (before or after dinner???? Before. Dinner may run late.) Hmmm...okay. The phone is supposed to remind me in the morning before Yoga. Does this mean I get your cookie at lunch?
  5. I knew when I started the count down that certain responsibilities came with the job. This count down is to important to be left to those not up to the task. The baton was passed and I must keep going till the end. Just think of the names of those who rode Laguna Seca before us. Some of the most important names in racing history have been on this track. There are new tracks that are really nice to ride but there is no history. California was the epicenter of road racing in America. Well, you keep counting. I'm going to go keep that history alive in my own little way. Canyon calls.
  6. You know, you're not making it any easier to sit here shuffling papers when it's a sunny 67 degrees outside!!!
  7. Thanks Domina for helping out. The responsibility of the count down has been taking a toll on me. Not doing Laguna, but I'd like to say... 4 More Days Looking good for Willow: 76 degrees and only 11mph winds. HAVE FUN!!!
  8. Thanks Domina for helping out. The responsibility of the count down has been taking a toll on me. You really should be conserving your energy at this point
  9. Twenty Seven Days Twenty Six Days You remind me of myself with my hobbies/passions!!! C Hey! You're messing up my count down...but yes, I can't wait to "Twist The Wrist" at Laguna Seca. Yeah, got to mess with the students a little now and again. Turned off Hotfoot's kill switch once in the pit lane--actually, that was my evil twin that did that, yeah, that's it. Yeah, You probably let the air out of my front tire at VIR last year! It will be great to see everyone again in........................... Twenty Five Days So, this is how you get "Cornering Master" on the forum.
  10. You're right-time to start test riding little 4 cylinders!!!
  11. I recommend a good massage a couple of days beforehand (skip the post-gimlet) and yoga-lite (don't pull anything!)
  12. I'll be there April, too! I like that they put the track map in. It may come in handy when my coach actually thinks I was counting the turns-who knew? And, I compared the available CSS schedule with annual averages before picking my days: Monterey in April-high 64, low 47 (I suggest a room w/fireplace and/or hottub), rain 1.48 inches. NO SNOW!!!
  13. I agree an "equipment" section would fill a gap. People new to the sport have a lot of questions about gear, so it helps to have a place to ask things. New riders sometimes shy away from getting good gear because it is expensive, but spare parts for people are extremely expensive and often not even available! Double ditto, Stevo! $800 to fix the bike, $1100 on new & replacement gear, $40K to rebuild the ankle (I highly recommend the crazy boots at all times!)

  15. That kid rocks! Every time he passed @ Willow Springs, I said, "Wow. That kid's great."
  16. I did a little of it on the way up to Sacramento in July but cut over to the 101 once the fog started rolling in-forgot how cold it gets so fast! (Still not an early riser-already in training for April.) The coast is beautiful. I highly recommend trolling it if you can fit it in.
  17. Cold makes my broken parts hurt and rain makes me melt-we'll leave it at that. Though, I miss you all dearly, didn't make it out to see Keith.
  18. And, I'm still learning this site, which is why this came up as a new topic. Oops.
  19. I'll agree and add that Tgriff has a good point. Sadly, I and possibly a few others, haven't attained that wonderous place in life where we get to spend all the time we would like riding tracks around the country/world. As such, we mostly live for those happy times when we can run off to find some nearby canyon or unpatrolled stretch of open road. For example, "Toughest Corner on the Planet" is under the Circuits heading. I've only run the Streets at Willow twice-both with CSS, Yay! I can tell you there are a couple of hairpin, diminishing radius corners going into a 30-45 degree elevation changes, 1 up, 1 down, on Decker that always make me look like I've never so much as seen a motorcycle in my life! (I like to think if the opposing traffic lane were open to me, this wouldn't happen but don't know if I'd bet on it.) Now, I'm sure there are many who would disagree but, Decker is not technically a race circuit so, I'm not going to post this there. Does that mean the topic is invalid to me? No. Track experience should be applied to the road. So, what do I get out of this topic posting? An idea of the types of corners that cause even highly skilled and experienced track riders problems. Which makes me feel a little better and more confident that, one day, I'll work out those areas I currently have problems with. It's good to know that riding is an ongoing learning process for everyone! So, I'm not going to post anything in response (at least not until I try to muddle my way around Seca in April!) but, I'm going to read the posts and glean what I can out of them. And, one day, I'll know exactly what those guys are talking about. Eventually, I'll even have something more to add, hopefully. Also, it's cold and damp out so I'm sitting here in front of my computer instead of getting in that Saturday ride . And, I couldn't really write ALL of this at work, so it might not come out right. And, I'm not sure I like the "squid" designation, no matter how appropriate it may be . Now, I have to sign up for traffic school. Thanks for the ticket, Santa Cop!...or, shall I thank you? (I honestly hate emoticons...) Have fun! P.S. And off topic, Keith's at ProItalia in Glendale tomorrow, yes? I'm guessing a lot of people here don't get their newsletter...
  20. I'm doing Level 3 at Laguna Seca on April 14th. I'll be making a mini-vaca out of it and am leaving Los Angeles on April 11th, riding the PCH up to San Simeon for the night, then on into Monterey. If anyone has similar plans or wants to make them, let me know. Have fun!
