  1. That song makes everything better. Love the Cadwell park jump.
  2. Is ABS on track a bad thing? Every time it comes up that my bike has ABS and that I'm taking it to the track people seem to question it. I'm going to be doing my first track day in September.
  3. Good things to think about. I don't see doing anything in the immediate future. FYI I ride mainly street. I'm thinking of things like this with my first track day coming up in September,
  4. EBC pads seem like they would take a while to bed in.
  5. Bike is a 2013 ninja 650 with ABS 5000 miles bought brand new in 2013. I'm not sure if I can do stainless I looked at the different companies and there doesn't seem to be anything for the ABS model for my bike. I talked with my dealer a little and might be able to jerry rig something to work. A lot more research is needed for that. Can changing brake fluid brand make that big of difference? I just have whatever the dealer put in. To that note is it weird that the brake fluid is clear, I looked at the sight glass for the brake reservoir and I thought there was nothing in there the first time I looked. I haven't changed the brake fluid yet. Its not terribly bad but I feel like there is a little to be desired.
  6. One of the reasons is I feel sometimes like it requires to much lever pull for the desired result. Seems like the higher the speed when braking the more I notice it.
  7. I am looking at upgrading my brake pads. When I do this do I need to do anything to the rotor. I am seeing multiple thoughts on this. Should I clean them and if yes how?
  8. Found this on the Ohlins website. The spring pre-load affects the ride height, it does not affect the spring stiffness. Therefore, on models with a linkage to the shock absorber, the suspension may actually feel harder when you reduce the pre-load and the shock absorber gets into the harder range of the link system. Also found this http://fixbroke.tumblr.com/post/39188918110/spring-preload-and-sag-what-does-it-really-do Decent explanation of preload
  9. I think I had a light bulb moment. Thinking back to physics two objects that exert the same force on each other won't move. One objects force increases to being greater than the other object it will then move the object with less force in the direction the force is being applied. It's a net force thing Sometimes it just takes me a while.
  10. I'm confused on B. If installed preload is 15 mm that means that there is 15 kg of force to get installed with all preload backed out correct? You say after this it will take 15 kg of force to get the fork to compress initially. Why wouldn't it be just 1 kg of force. I feel like the force exerted by the spring being installed would take care of that 15 kg needed. Sorry if this doesn't make sense.
  11. Can someone explain the difference between locking up the front vs the rear. FYI I do use front only 90% of the time. Just trying to understand the why better.
  12. I remember when I took my MSF course they made it sound like locking up the rear was fine and that locking up the front was the one to worry about.
  13. How about the adhesion promoter kits they say to use with stomp grips. Is that something I should buy or is it not necessary?
  14. Is the S2 becoming the S2 Sport or is the S2 Sport a seperate product line? With the S2 Sport is the only change the double d ring or are there other things that are changing? I can't wait till it comes out.
  15. Just for reference it is a 2013 Ninja 650 with ABS. I'll make a trip to my dealer and see what they think. I did buy a service manual and nothing looks different from that.
  16. I am looking for some aftermarket parts for my bike and I am coming across a limited selection because my bike has ABS. Is there that much different between an ABS and non-ABS system. Specifically I was looking at Sato rearsets but it said it was for the non-ABS version. Would it hurt anything if I put it on my bike.
  17. I want to thank everyone again for this past weekend In Vegas. It was a lot of fun and I don't think I could have had a better introduction to track days. Also I would like to thank my coch coach Chris. He was awesome and not once did he make me feel like I was slow out there. I think the biggest thing I am going to take away is visual skills. I am definetly planning on coming back next year. Chris
