Same Principles?

Recommended Posts

There is no hiding that motorcycles have evolved dramatically since it was first invented about 125 years ago. Modern bikes can produce lap times that would be impossible to imagine just a few decades ago. Every aspect of the motorcycles have improved no end.

What I wonder is, if we ignore the most agricultural designs that didn't even have pneumatic tyres, does the same principles apply for old and new bikes alike? Would you ride them in a similar manner, applying the same principles, or would you have to alter your style a little - or a lot - in order to operate various motorcycles at their best?

Let's bring in some actual GP racers for comparison:

1950 Norton Manx 500

1965 MV Agusta 500

1980 Honda NR 500

1995 Suzuki RGV 500

2010 Yamaha M1 800
