Gr8Dane Posted July 30, 2012 Report Posted July 30, 2012 Rewind the tape and watch what really happened. Ben didn't cause the high-side--he knows not to get on the gas hard in the corkscrew, yet the bike stepped out from under him. Viciously so. The tape tells the story. It's fairly obvious, yet none of the commentators caught it...so, what happened?
bradvanhorn Posted July 30, 2012 Report Posted July 30, 2012 I'm seeing reports of "a broken swingarm" as the culprit...
Ventodue Posted July 30, 2012 Report Posted July 30, 2012 I'm seeing reports of "a broken swingarm" as the culprit... Yep. That's what the TV commentators here in France said as soon as it happened. And now confirmed by the rider - quote:"We had a technical failure in the swingarm." Go http://www.motogp.co...+yamaha+factory Craig
warregl Posted July 31, 2012 Report Posted July 31, 2012 Good catch Dane. I was wondering the same thing but hadn't had time to watch it again. Thanks for the clarification guys.
Gr8Dane Posted August 1, 2012 Author Report Posted August 1, 2012 You guys nailed it. There's two camera angles of the high side, the camera shooting uphill shows the rear wheel collapsed all the way up into the the tailcone, and when the pick the bike up, you can see the rear wheel flopping back and forth. Probably linkage failure. Inexcusable in my opinion....
Jasonzilla Posted August 4, 2012 Report Posted August 4, 2012 His other wreck wasn't because of the swingarm. I called him wrecking during practice. He was riding real poorly all weekend. A wreck was inevitable.
