  1. Ya Andy, there prices are really competitivie with other name brands. Was wondering about the quality. If it is close than that would be good.
  2. Cobie what do you mean when you say "Getting enough heat in the tire is an issue on track tires, when using them on the street (like slicks or even the Dunlop DOT race tires, 208's, 209's 211's)."???? Not sure I follow.
  3. How tight do you guys think it should fit? there is certain places I am guessing everyones is a little loose, like the difference between sitting and standing up in the butt area, and in the tricep area as well.
  4. Thanks Cobie! I think they are a English Company, there is a string of stores thoughout the US called "cycle gear" where they sell alot of Frank Thomas products.
  5. This name brand is not as easy to find as some of the others here in the us. Who has heard of Frank Thomas products? How would you rate the brand on quality on a scale of 1-10. 1 is the worst & 10 is the best. If you bought something from them or know someone that has tell us about it!
  6. But how do you guys get to the track so often if you only ride track? I like riding my bike for at least 2 hrs a day give or take. I could never settle for going to the track once even twice a week only and not riding anymore.
  7. Ya some of the guys that race motogp said they grew up riding dirt. Now racing gp they feel comfortable pushing it to the limit and playing with the throttle in turns because when their back tires spins its just another day at the office.
  8. Hope all of you have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday!
  9. In twist of the wrist there is a section on braking. One of its subsections is on rear braking which is small. One of the sentences sums up the subsection pretty good by saying "Many riders and racers have given up using the rear brake for hard braking". To sum it up the reason is that the rear brake is more tricky and its miss use can cause hopping & less control. One of the center piece themes for keiths teachings is obviously that if a rider wants to ride more effedient one must understand and take responsibility in the area of weight transfers, throttle control and braking. Well with that foundation in mind THEN mastering and using in conjunction the right amount of back brake would allow a rider to transfer weight to the rear where you DO need more of it at times. Doing everything you can in chasing that desired 60/40 weight ratio. Guys that are the fastest and also one with their bike I would guess DO use the rear brake and quit often! They most likely use it to not only slow faster but also to not transfer ALL of the stoping forces to the front.
  10. I mean you can feel a big difference doing 100 mph if you flair your elbows out into the stream of wind, then once you realize it and you tuck them down it makes a big difference.
  11. If you watch the DVD Faster they mention that they like to press down the the pegs to give extra weight/traction to the rear in the turn. But again they dont mention if one peg is pressed down on harder than the other or if they are both pressed down on equal. Pressing down more on the outer peg you would think would want to stand the bike up. Also in some pictures it looks like some guys take their leg that is dragging knee completely off the peg?? Anyone else notice that?
  12. I am 5'7" at 145 and have a 1pc size 48 (Eur) which fits pretty snug when standing, but on the bike it's completely neutral with nothing bunching or tugging anywhere. A friend of mine is 6'3" and got a 2pc with the pants in a tall size which helps in length but the jacket is roomy around his mid section to get the length he needed. A 2pc is nice to be able to take off the jacket at the track in between sessions on hot days. Just make sure it's comfortable in the bike position- you don't want to spend any of your "attention budget" on distraction from gear. Maybe I should try on bigger size like a 48. I mean for how much leathers cost I want it to fit excellent!
  13. Google them and find: VIRginia International Raceway 1245 Pine Tree Road Alton, VA 24520 Thunderbolt Raceway New Jersey Motosports Park Dividing Creek Rd Millville, NJ 08332 Thanks dude just wanted to be sure.
  14. Tried on a couple suits, 2 piece and 1 piece. The 2 piece was fine but the 1 piece was really tight in the crotch when I stood straight up. I am 6'2 weigh about 155 pounds, tried on a 40 and a 42. I know these suits are made to fit more for sitting but when I stood straight up it was very uncomfortable. I think the average guy wearing a 40/42 is more like 5'10" or so. How do yours fit? Is this normal? Do they stretch considerably? Do you prefer a 1 or 2 piece?
  15. Do any of you guys clean your tires with any certain product? I am not talking about something to make them shinny and just look good. I mean to clean any oil and stuff on them that can affect traction. Sometimes riding around on the street you drive through a patch or stream of it on the road. Also yesterday I was cleaning and lubing my chain and got some of that stuff on the outer edges of the tire. Has this happened to any of yal? So what can you clean tires with?
  16. Would like to find out the exact address so I can mapquest each. Can anyone post these? Thanks in advance!
  17. Putting your leg out getting into position approaching a turn helps slow the bike down due to increased wind resistance.
  18. This is something that I have been wondering alot lately to. Especially the part about peg pressure, inside vs outside which to put more pressure on? Equal on both? TTT
  19. Doesnt keith always say to maintain throttle control? So why shut it off?
  20. racer, what do you consider to be track tires?? Just slicks? What about corsa III's? or 2ct's? Do you think those 2 are good to ride on the street ?
  21. Cant go wrong with any of those! Which video do you speak of?
