Sind
Hi, Well I'm quite new to road riding with about 1.5 years and its very different from MX as you would expect. I've been finding the tranistion to a sportsbike both really enjoyable and difficult, so I decided the best way to improve was to take on a School Day with CSS and ended up in the Level 1 group at Rockingham in the middle of this year. Now I had an excellent time and picked up some very valuable information, which has improved my riding. However it was raining heavily that day and not sure I really got the most out of the session (and myself) - I didn't really get a chance to cover off body position (I think its one of my may problems) and improve my confidence in leaning over. So the question is: would it be worthwhile doing Level 1 again or practicing the drills and going for Level 2 before the years out? Thanks in advance. Cheers, Mark

Cheers, Mark Hi Mark, I did my level 1 at Rockingham on the 7th of july this year and it was heavy rain most of the day, I think we got one dry session all day but in the classroom Andy Ibbot said he loves riding in the rain and my instructor told me that the rain is good as it slows everyone down giving more time to concentrate on the drills. I think if you intend to eventually do all 4 levels you have no need to repeat level 1 at this stage as I believe that in level 4 they make up a training package focusing on your weak points from the previous 3 levels. Also you mention that you never got to cover body position but this is covered in level 3, Do you still have the little level 1 drill booklet you got at the school, this lists the drills for the day and I think that all of them would benefit riding in the wet, also it is worth investing in both of the twist of the wrist books, I am not an expert but I would say do all of the levels first then if you feel the need go back and repeat specific levels! Thanks for the reply - I'm basically going to do as you suggest and will be booking for next year. Got both books too and will be practicing as much as possible before the next school day. Cobie Fair
Fine advice from Acebobby, nothing wrong with that at all. Body position is taken up in various places: 1. At the Steering drill. Not sure if you got to do it if it was raining. Not sure if they can in UK, but if we miss a guy on a Steering drill, we can sometimes get him back to do it on a day he's not even signed up for--just has to sign the releases. 2. Next place we take a major part of the body positioning is on the Lean Bike. Great too, can do stuff there and quicker/better than anywhere else. 3. Lastly, we get more and more into different pieces of it at Level 3. That takes most of the day, lots of hands on, and you seminar coach is going ot work your legs!
