Hanni
It seems everyone swears by their favorite chain lube. I was wondering what chain lube CSS uses for their BMWs. Also, if you happen to read this and swear by yours, please let me know which brand it is and why you love it so much. Thank you!
Hotfoot
Hi Hanni! The school uses LiquiMoly Chain Lube and we are very happy with that.
Graybeard
@Hotfoot Honest question here. What specifically do you like about the LuquMoly, besides them being a sponsor? I have tried quite a few like Chain Wax and their clear option ( forget the name), but it was just messy! Bel-Ray, PJ1 and always come back to Chain Wax. Only bad thing is, you need elbow grease to remove it once it flies off after a session. Especially when it sits for a bit. What about liquid graphite? Anyone have experience with that? Are there advantages to one over the others?
gpounce32768
Whatever cheap motor oil I have on hand when the chain oil reservoir needs refilling, 5W preferred vs 10W. The oil it drips onto the chain may assist with lubrication but I have gained the impression the big win is preventing dirt from accumulating and working into the chain past the o-rings. But, I wanted to give you a more complete answer so I checked with our Chief Mechanic, and he said that the chain life on the bikes is good (and we do put on a lot of miles) so in his experience it is good protection for the chain, and he likes that it is not too messy.
