Cobie Fair
Anyone confident enough to make some predictions for this year? Will Martin keep it together? Will Peco extend his streak? Does the Yamaha and Quartararo have chance to be a contender?
Cobie Fair
Missed the weekend's races, I'll get 'em tonight. Who likes the newer format with the sprint race on the Saturday? (I do!).
Cobie Fair
Been an interesting start to the year. I did not see it coming that Pedro would do as well as he has in the first rounds...figured he'd need a few more rounds (and honestly didn't think the GasGas bike would be that competitive). What I really want to know is WTF are the Japanese factories going to do to get back in the game? Any word on that? And Joe Roberts...so glad to see him up front!!!! Cobie Fair
And now, what's gonna happen with Martin moving away from Ducati? This doesn't always work out...moving to a bike that is not consistently up front, still needing some development. Why wouldn't Martin just stay on the Pramac bike/team? Money? Prestige? I'll bet they dangled a fat contract in front of him...and for good reason. And Joe Roberts...what's gonna be in store for him next year, will he make the move to MotoGP? '25!!! And we aren't even halfway through '24! What a great time to be a racing enthusiast 😁 (although, I do wish we had a few more Americans in the hunt). SlowPoke
I had high hopes for KTM after the first few races of the year. I really thought they would be on the podium a fair amount this year. Clearly something happened as they went from running up front to running in the 10th spot area almost every race. So many big changes in store for next year. VR46 team factory Ducati? Should be interesting. Would love to see BMW come into the series. The Ducati's seem to struggle beating the BMW's in MotoAmerica. I'd love to see that battle in MotoGP. Cobie Fair
Me too! Just catching up on the racing from August. I hate watching them on an iphone, so I don't. Just watched The Beast win a sprint and full race.
Cobie Fair
Holy Cow, just caught up on the weekend's races at Aragon! Spoiler--if you haven't seen them, don't read further. First, Joe Roberts high-side. Why was his TEAMMATE even racing him, am I missing something???? What are current team owner acceptable standards in this...I'd like to know. If I was that team owner, I'd be pretty darn unhappy with the fact Joe's teammate (Ramirez?) did what he did, and didn't let Joe go, right from when he caught him. Next, Alex running into Peco: I don't see this as other than a racing incident. Alex was already looking past when Peco came back across to the apex (though I think Peco should have given a little more room). Then Alex's front was countersteered into Peco when Peco's body contacted Alex's tire, and there was nothing Alex could do at that point. I'm darn glad no one looks like they were really injured, so good to see. How do you guys look at this/these? I'm just stating my .02 cents. SlowPoke
I will preface my comments with the statement that i have no idea what I’m talking about. I am most assuredly wrong in my opinion. They continuously stated that the clean track (from rain) and the tire combination made the bikes not want to stop. Keeping that in mind, I thought Alex knew Peco was there and he didn’t want to give up without a fight and he went in too hot and the bike wasn’t going to stop. I feel like if Peco wasn’t there, Alex would have either gone down or run way wide because he came in too hot. Coming in too hot with a guy on your outside, inches away wasn’t anything Alex could recover from. His bike was going straight, he wasn't stopping, which is the exact condition they warned about. I thought that made it Alex’s fault but at the same time, Peco is so good, maybe that wasn’t the best place to pass Alex on that lap? SlowPoke
I redraw my above post. I just watched it again. Didn’t appear to be from not being able to stop.
Cobie Fair
Saw the 2nd round of races in Italy...will Pecco keep it together this year??!! I wonder if anyone keeps statistics on the kinds of crashes that happen in MotoGP? Does anyone on the forum know? (Those Brit commentators are excellent, wouldn't surprise me if they did have some numbers on this). Seems to me that front-end crashes on the brakes are big winner/loser in that category.
