  1. My pitmate races one. Send me a message and I can put you in contact with him. He has a supersport and superbike version of the SV650. I believe he races them in the lighweight category.
  2. While Sears doesn't put the same demand on you as say the streets of willow, it is a physically demanding track. Combine that with your nervous energy... you will most likely be tense on your bike... I would rec a one day break between schools or 2 back to back and then a day breather.
  3. I've used the AGV suits a couple of times... they fit nice and don't even stink.
  4. Using a school bike allows you to comfortably follow the instructor... as you advance (level 4), the instructors at times pull you along... it is great to see the instructor on the same bike, same tires and know that if you do what they requested you too can hull arse through the corner like they do... and crashing is cheaper on a school bike -- Get a nice used 600 as a starter bike, last I heard Will still had a couple ex school bikes, I went this route a few times. Good bikes, well maintained and very good condition (like showroom).
  5. Get a used 600. It will get dropped. I went the new route... I had no idea how to maintain it, what noises ment or anything else. I dropped it 4 days after getting it. I too was 18. The bike was a POS in 12 months. Also, go to the superbike school before you get any bad habits. It is cheaper than replacing an upper fairing. I tried to explain this to a young guy that was starting out like you. He kept saying he couldn't afford it. That he had spent his money on his bike. Well 3 months later... his bike was gone, and he only had liability coverage. Lets just say that one day at the school would have fixed him enough that he wouldn't have tossed his bike away.
  6. Looks like the school switched to Firebird (looking at the schedule).
  7. After what I saw today... Rossi has my money, though I still would love to see Colin tear it up... and who is going to replace Hopkins, if he really did do in both his ankles?
  8. I don't use the rear brake at all. Not even a bit. The only time I use it is when I am off track. Somewhere along the lines, I stopped using it on the track. What about you guys... do you use it? if so, how much?
  9. There was no complaint. It was an observation.
  10. I realize that I am a wreck waiting to happen. I don't do any of that stuff. I see what feels right, going faster on my entry until stuff starts to slide around, or I forget to let go of the front brake.
  11. The answer is yes, with some minor tweaks. And you only loose the 36cc and the adjustable swingarm. So rumor has it.
  12. When I did the level 3 there (several years ago), they set up an extra turn at the start finish... to prevent injury to students... I wonder what they do now that the track has been revised.
  13. This is on Dean's AMAsuperbike.com It is a short clip of Ben coming into turn 11. Really nice sounding bike. The article... http://amasuperbike.com/2004/Jan/040109b.htm The clip... http://www.amasuperbike.com/movie/2004/benself.mpg
  14. Is it possible to put a ZX-6RR motor in a ZX-6 636? I am having a heck of a time locating a ZX-6RR that I can afford, but the 636 is everywhere. If I did accomplish sticking the motor in there, what do I loose by doing so? thanks
  15. My wife get pissed I drive so slow on the street. I am like whoooo, slow down, why are you driving so fast.
  16. I am way slower on the street now that I have access to a track. Stupid stuff still happens, but only when there is a full moon.
  17. It is what you make it. I find myself a much better rider when I am in the mood, how you get there... I like to just hang out, listen to some music and then all crazy like get dressed and dash out to the track... sometimes hitting my head on the ezups.
  18. I am looking for a salvage '03 ZX-6RR to race this coming season. If anyone hears of one please let me know asap. I have found plenty '03 ZX-6Rs but no ZX-6RRs. Unfortunately budget doesn't allow me to pick up a new one. Thanks!
  19. I am thinking of taking Level I over again. It's been 6 years (maybe more). I forgot pretty much everything. I have to think about it again. I want it to be natural.
  20. Makes me wonder what the front looked like. Now you So CA boys need to run up here in the rain, where tread is a matter of life. Looks like we got some snow outside... CRF time...
