I did too until I found out that street tires don't get up to 180F. Right, but the concept is going to be the same--were the tires hot enough for the cornering load demanded? Low 70's is not a warm day by our standards. Like when we did some track work for the Twist II DVD, it was 106 ambient, blazing sun. Didn't take long to warm the tires, if they needed it at all. We also think a dry day is really dry--like less than 15% humidity. It was probably way more than that on your day. Was the road shaded? Another factor in keeping the asphalt temp down.
