Guest IgnativsElvis Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 I have at home the Mach 2 video made by Fast bikes magazine, with Rob ''frosty'' Frost and Shane ''shakey'' Byrne as two of the riders. Both of them are now well know rider in WSS and BSB. At the beginning of the video, one of them is seen changing lane on the road so fast that he has time to touch the ground with his knee everytime time. He's actually going left-right-left with full knee down on a single lane road!! Is that something that racers do to practice quick turns likes esses, like an actual drill or are they just goofing around? If it's a real drill, at which level does a rider becomes good enough to be able to do it ? Doug Quote
dmj120 Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 WOW! Maybe that's why they get paid to ride I know there's a drill in level 1 that is similar, albeit much more 'beginner', and if I understand correctly, level 3 has a hip flick drill that would probably get the bike over that fast. I'd be willing to bet they were just messing around, looked fun as hell -wish i could play around like that. Quote
acebobby Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 When I was at silverstone this year, during a practice session I saw Marco Simoncelli touch both knee's down from side to side about 6 times before picking the bike up and doing a wheelie. What amazed me was that he only looked like he was using about 3 meters of the track width to do do this! He was showboating to an extent but I always wondered why he did that, if there was a more technical reason! Quote

Some thing that flicking the bike back and forth warms the tires, but in reality it doesn't enough to make any difference. CF Quote
