  1. i think it will give you better throttle control if you can hold and shift a wheelie...it helped me get smoother but not faster
  2. going down to road atlanta for 2 trackdays april 10th and 11th with nesba...any pointers on riding that track???? been watching videos but never the same as real track time..
  3. thanks and it makes more sense to me now...does that usually equates to faster lap times???
  4. for me its when i can almost fall asleep in a corner..meaning effortless...
  5. why change the gearing from stock?? for instance if someone is geared and im not ,going down one gear lower in a corner than the geared bike, will it be the same result and why not???
  6. i ride from late april to end of september and try to squeeze in as many as i can in those months...i will get about 15 to 20 this year so 3 to 4 per month....im in ottawa canada so lots of snow ...
  7. ...here it is i think...an RP is what ever makes you make that decision of braking, turning ect....could be as simple as a 100 feet of discolored pavement or something like gearing revs and all that...doesnt mean that it is actually a good thing since its so vague...i understand what Hub means by RP'S , if you want to get around a race track faster or if you want to get closer to race pace you need solid and specific RP'S ..if that makes any sense..
  8. welcome to the forum Darryl!!! i am fairly new here as well and also from canada....cheers..
  9. you need to be looking at something or feeling where youre at so i would say yes you need somekind of rps otherwise you would keep on going straight
  10. can or do you feel it before you lose the front in a corner???in other words can you stop it from happening??
  11. So far it is 7 for the lead and 3 to chase.... i guess we will never win a race if we are faster only when someone is faster than us....lmao
  12. i started this poll i should at least answer my own question..lol...i am faster when i try to follow someone a bit faster than me..gives me a target to shoot for and a goal...
  13. Ditto. I was riding my sportbike wanting to try track riding for over 2 years. One day I just decided to go try it, and I'm so into it now that I study what I can about track riding, and can't wait until my wife graduates so I can spread my wings and travel to different tracks. you are waiting for your wife to graduate???and pay for your track riding expenses i hope..lmao..man youre lucky That sounds good, but not it. She has years..... and years under her belt of college without a degree. Indecisive is the word I choose to use. She's in nursing school, and will be done soon enough. For the time being I'm paying everything, but when there are two nurses in the house, I'll be able to travel to different tracks and ride them. enjoy while you can before you have kids...then you'll be lucky to do a non local track..lol
  14. cant really answer your question but MAN im jealous...lol
  15. An RP has to be something one can use, in other words, what gives one the "feel" for where they are? C depth perception or looking far ahead at the turn"apex"

  17. are you faster following trying to catch someone or being up front???.....follow or leader???
  18. I think this really depends on the rider and how much time they have spent on the "race bike" setting it up and getting used to the differences. On some tracks I was able to go much faster with my built race bike, but on others I actually went faster on a closer to stock bike because there were less adjustments and less stuff to worry about. I did a 1:23 on a stock bike at the Streets of Willow and I did a 1:32.8 at Mid Ohio on my race bike. I have raced both configurations at Shannonville, all on a stock 600CBR but I can't seem to find my times anywhere from those races and I've never ridden the new track at Calabogie. However, I think that if you are running that close to lap record times on your stock bike then you are doing pretty well. I've always been of the mind set that it is better to ride your stock bike as fast as it will go, before moving up to a fully race prepped bike. Just gets you more comfortable with the feel of the bike and understanding what it can do before throwing in all sorts of variables like gearing, motorwork, race gas, suspension adjustments etc etc. Seems like you are doing well at what you are doing and when you are ready to start adding race components to your bike I'm sure you will see your time dropping. I hope that helps, it is a tough question Misti thanks for the info...and it makes a lot of sense as i only rode the same type of stock bike for the past 6 years and i even tried for a few laps a full prepped race bike from a friend and felt so uncomfortable evrything being so stiff so seat time plays a big role also....time for me to stay at the same pace and go to school for better info and getting to slide that rear at will..lol
  19. good point...does that mean that a reference point could be where you are at that moment on the track meaning the feel of where you are and speed youre at???
  20. Seems like a good pace. Misti would know those tracks, I'll shoot her a note on this. C you guys are like the bible of racing..love it..lol...thanks and looking forward to eventually be your customer...
  21. VIR is one of the staff favorites. Fun track, bit of everything. I would think you could get someone down for that. Some of the guys that can't wait come to Vegas in the early part of the year. Vegas is a trip for sure. do moct people bring their own bikes or rent yours???
  22. ok im in trouble here....on long high speed straights i use a RP but all the other turns i dont hink i do...hmmm..i slow down looking at the apex and get the turn done..weird..
  23. hmmmm...the real reason im asking is for my personal gain and knowledge from people outside my own local race track network..i basically wanted to know how far i can push my own 06 gsxr1000 with stock everything "even gearing "and running dot race tires without getting hurt...im happy with myself but always looking for improvement...i know its hard to compare lap times with some of you guys since i never rode in the usa.....lap record at shannonville long track is 1m 46s and i run 1m 56s short track 1m 03s is the lap record and i run 1m 10s ....calabogie long track no lap records but the fastest i have seen and heard of from a good pre racer was 2m 05s and i run 2m 13s"i know that track well..lol" dont know if that helps with my question...thanks in advance...
  24. good cause i need something to get me thru the winter..lol..im actually thinking of doing your school in virginia next year if i can fing a buddy to go with...
  25. just wondering if you put the same rider on a fully prepped race bike and on a bone stock version what the difference would be on a typical laptime.....say that rider does 2 minutes 6 seconds a lap on the race bike what would he run on the stock bike??? 5 seconds??10?20?
