  1. I wonder if maybe you aren't pushing at (roughly) a 90 degree angle to your head (steerer tube) assembly. If you are then your bars should act as a lever and I think it'd be pretty easy. The other (more likely?) possibility, and it may seem too obvious, is that when you are pushing with your "inside" hand to initiate the turn, you are also pushing with your outside hand and "fighting" yourself. Remember your "rider input" drill from level 1? That may help, along with pushing the bar at the correct angle.
  2. Wow I can't believe nobody is posting. 60-some hits, come on lurkers, tell me what you think!
  3. I'd start at the beginning, Level 1. You may have read A Twist of the Wrist 2 already, if so I'm sure you can appreciate what the mastery of the concepts in it could give you. I am not an instructor, I'm a student, but that is my advice.
  4. What the? Im going to buy that DVD monday. You've got to love the IOM. There is an interveiw with Rossi from this years race. Yeah, I've seen part of that interview. Rossi is such a fun guy to watch, on and off the bike. I love to see guys like John McGuinness ride but Rossi is just such a character that he's always entertaining.
  5. This video is neat because you can really see the suspension work, but also, this video is just amazing and beautiful. Seeing the suspension moving in slow motion was very, very, cool. Check out the bird flying away at 1:10 and the rider leaned over with both wheels off the ground at 2:03.
  6. Welcome to the site Mickey, what are you riding?
  7. Enlightening thread. Now that you mention it I think I do need something to make it sit higher on my head so I can see further forward.
  8. I know my riding will have to improve if I want to be at the level of the CSS coaching staff. I am already interested in improving though, which is what led me to CA Sbk School in the first place. I also can't wait to do some racing, I think it'll be fun and I'll learn a lot!
  9. Hey Cobie and thank you so much for replying. Your encouragement means a lot to me. I'll definately get the application is as soon as possible. As excited as I am, I know the road to being a CSS coach is a challenging one. I can't wait for the journey to begin. Shoot it over, we'll get the process started. Anyone esle? CF LOL, it's probably easier to count the people who WOULDN'T be interested. That'd be a much smaller number.
  10. Yeah man, I'm all over it. I really love the books and people, so I think the most important thing for me will be to get my speed up (levels 3 and 4!) and I personally really want to do some racing too.
  11. Hey Oki, welcome to the forum! I'm at the same place as you are in my "education", ready for levels 3 and 4.
  12. This is the first time I've seen this thread, very cool, as I often wonder where the school is at and what everybody's doing. I actually really like the layout of the forum as it is, but I would definitely like to see a "tires" section (which you mentioned in another post), and I also had thought about starting a nickname thread but I wasn't sure if the coaches would appreciate it, hahaha!
  13. This is a great thread for me. I've only ridden in the rain (at the track) 1 time, other than that I've always had hot, sunny weather. I never really thought about what I did until you posted this but after thinking about it I can say that when it's been hot out I did one easy lap and on my 2nd lap went gradually faster. After that I don't have the judgement to feel the traction so I guess I've kind of been trusting the tires after my 3rd lap. Ideally I'd be able to feel the traction and know with certainty where I was in relation to the limit of the tire.
  14. Go HERE Sof. I would love to do it, it'd be awesome if you did it too!
  15. Interesting thread. I wish I was qualified to answer this!
  16. +1 for Woodcraft. Decent price, durable and a lot of racers use them so you have a shot at getting parts when you need them.
  17. Hahaha, "Often you can get the throttle to the stop very early in a corner on a 600...". I must be doing something wrong.
  18. Hey Kat, welcome to the forum. You sound like a perfect candidate for the school to me. I just did levels 1 and 2. I had already read A Twist of the Wrist 2 so I *thought* I had the basic idea but I was blown away at the simplicity and effectiveness of the drills. If you don't have the "Twist" books I recommend them. Other than that I'd just say that there's a lot of questionable advice given when it comes to riding motorcycles, so if I were you I'd just stick to CSS and learn good habits from the start.
  19. YES! This is a prime reason to go ahead with the section Cobie.
  20. Epee, I am guessing that for technical/engineering data you might like talking to one of the tire techs at a track. There are usually a couple at track days, depending on how many manufacturers are selling there that day, but they are the guys most likely to have done studies on the tires.
  21. What a great story! Glad to have you on the forum, I'm in the "States" so I probably won't see you on the track in the very near future but maybe someday.
