  1. Spec tires that the oem motorcycle manufacturers have purpose built for a bike are vastly different from the aftermarket tires, even of the same name. So I bet your past experience with Q2's is more what you would again experience with Q2's or the new Q3's vs what you experience now with oe original spec tires on your new bike. Who do I call or talk to, to get a price on some Q2's for my bike? Also, I was about to get my suspension set up on my bike this Monday morning.
  2. I finally did it! I signed up for CSS level 1! September 14th, can't wait. This is the first time I am taking a class (besides MSF) and first time ever on a real road course/track with a motorcycle! Been riding 10 months now and I think this will be some great instruction for me. I look very forward to this day!
  3. Ok. from what I gathered, these tires I have are the Q2's for Europe like KHP said. Thanks for the info again. For some reason I just didn't feel that confident with these tires like I did on my 05' R1 with Q2's. Damn, it's amazing how weird it feels when you don't know anything about your tires. I didn't know whether these were sticky enough, or maybe harder etc.. Thanks again for the info.
  4. Wow, you are the first person to know what these are! I have asked numerous people and are clueless. I will do a search. Thank you.
  5. If I fail tech because of my tires, will CSS be able to help me install tires on my bike if I buy them there? I have a brand new 12' R1 and it came with these weird kind of Dunlops, says they are "Qualifier II" but don't look like the Q2's I usually buy. Here's a pic.http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c140/franco802/20130729_193945_zpsf8687309.jpg
  6. Thanks for the info. I think I may have the 05' sold this weekend. looks like I may be taking the 12' r1 alone:)
  7. I think I will just bring both bikes in case. Wouldn't hurt I guess.
  8. Thanks guys. I will definitely be prepared. I have heat out under liners from cycle gear, they work really good. I'll hydrate the day before as well. I am so excited to attend this class.
  9. When does it start cooling down at Willow? I don't do very good in the heat and I would hate for my CSS class to get ruined by getting heat exhaustion. I am in good health and all, but I get heat exhaustion being in the heat for long periods of time. Being in leathers and riding on a track that's 140f probably will do me in. Is it still in the 100's at the end of September? Thanks.
  10. Thanks for the update. I had the wrong one the whole time.
  11. I am going to sign up this week for the CSS finally. Since I first posted, I have made some changes I sold my Harley and only kept my 05' R1. But I have always wanted crossplane R1, so two weeks ago I went out and purchased a brand new 2012 R1 My question is, which bike would you use for CSS? The 05' or the 12'? I have never done a track day and I have only been riding almost one year now. I was thinking of taking the 05' just in case I have a mishap. What do you all think?
  12. Thank you all for the warm welcome. I have been riding my R1 more than my Harley lately. I have been going on rides with a friend of mine who races and is very experienced. I have become quite a bit better on my R1 since I last posted. Lot's of pratice and seat time. I'm not saying I know it all, my confidence level is still not all there going through turns. I WILL take this class! I am in the process of buying track leathers and equipment. I was going to rent some, but $200 is steep to borrow leathers. Rather invest in my own. I want to use my own bike, at the same time I'm scared I will crash it and ruin the beautiful fairings. My buddy told me to buy used ones off ebay for cheap and use those for track days.
  13. Hello all, My name is Frank and I been riding street motorcycles since November 2012. I have owned a new Harley sportster since then, but just purchased a used R1 sport bike last week and want to attend your school. I want to learn as much as I can and have fun. I am just not sure if I'm ready to attend your classes yet. I am not sure I have the skill level you all seek.
  14. I am new to street bikes. I rode motocross for 10 years and now I finally decided to ride on the road. So I purchased a brand new 2013 Harley Davidson iron 883. Took the Harley Davidson MSF 5 day course and passed with 100%. Also went and took my M1 test and passed that as well. I did all this end of November 2012 and been riding since. Now, I have always been a fan of moto gp and love sport bikes. That's what I learned on in the MSF class. They had Buells. So after riding the Harley a few months, I couldn't resist the great time I had on the Beull. So I went out last week and got a smoking deal on a used 2005 Yamaha R1 for $4500. This bike is very fast and almost scary to ride. I want to take a class there so I can learn much more about sport bikes, learn how to corner better etc... I am in San Diego, CA.
