mugget Posted November 6, 2013 Report Posted November 6, 2013 I guess this raises the bar for all those people who like to show off by dragging a hand along the ground through a corner. But how did he get into the corner without using his hands? Must have been that "body steering" I keep hearing about... (I kid, I kid.) Quote
faffi Posted November 6, 2013 Report Posted November 6, 2013 I know he's cheating with one hand on the handlebars, but it's still a cool picture Quote
mugget Posted November 6, 2013 Author Report Posted November 6, 2013 Haha, I dunno... backing it in one handed still counts for a lot. I wonder what other cool cornering photos there are floating around the 'net? Quote
faffi Posted November 6, 2013 Report Posted November 6, 2013 Not a picture, and perhaps not cool, but quite spectacular http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Ov43cWkYIA Quote
mugget Posted November 14, 2013 Author Report Posted November 14, 2013 Ah yes, Ghilli Man! Honestly I would never have believed it was possible if not for that vid... Makes me wonder though - how many times has he crashed (is he the type of person who just keeps pushing and pushing and crashes alot) or is he the type who thinks things through a lot more and manages to stay mostly upright? Maybe he wasn't the first though: Personally I look at it and just think that his vision is compromised. Removing hands from the 'bars is a time honoured tradition. There is also a picture out there of a pillion trying to get her head down... can't find it though! Quote
tunnelvision748 Posted January 10, 2014 Report Posted January 10, 2014 My guess is 110% confidence and knowing how much rider input is actually needed to keep the bike from spilling. Quote
mugget Posted January 12, 2014 Author Report Posted January 12, 2014 Interesting... so how much rider input is actually needed once the turn-in is complete? Quote
Chad Ramskugler Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 Exactly! Even stunt masters like Christian Pfeiffer prove the super-natural stability of motorcycles when rider input is decisive and precise! http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/b4/Chris_Pfeiffer_stunt_BMW_F800R.jpg Quote
Darth Peachy Posted February 25, 2014 Report Posted February 25, 2014 Some people just have it! Quote
ktk_ace Posted February 25, 2014 Report Posted February 25, 2014 Interesting... so how much rider input is actually needed once the turn-in is complete? hmm... none on the handlebars? (throttle is another thing, smooth roll on baby) Quote
mugget Posted February 27, 2014 Author Report Posted February 27, 2014 Haha - I probably shouldn't laugh though, poor #77 just had an expensive moment. But it does look funny and is it just me or does he seem not the slightest bit surprised about his current situation? ktk_ace, even throttle depends on the desired outcome... for example I often ride certain types of corners with no handlebar input, no throttle input either. (Remember this is about the actual cornering part, not the corner exit.) Quote

Considering the fact that #77 is Michael Schumacher he is probably thinking to himself, I should have stuck to Formula 1! Quote
YellowDuck Posted February 27, 2014 Report Posted February 27, 2014 Oh poor Michael. I am very upset about his current predicament. It is a funny picture though, and his racing experience explains the "ho-hum" expression on his face. Panic management... Quote

Last I knew he retired, then heard a rumor he was coming back, so whats happened since? Quote
faffi Posted February 27, 2014 Report Posted February 27, 2014 Schumi is in a coma after suffering life threatening head trauma. Quote
Darth Peachy Posted February 27, 2014 Report Posted February 27, 2014 Ouch! Apologies to anyone who thinks me posting that picture is a little insensitive, I honestly didn't know about that. Quote
mugget Posted February 28, 2014 Author Report Posted February 28, 2014 I thought it might have been Schumi after I posted that reply. Don't worry Darth Peachy, his coma-related accident wasn't motorsport related. I keep forgetting about it until someone reminds me, you always expect a motorsport star like him to be hurt on the track if anywhere! Quote
