Going off on some engineering points which is fine, but I didn't exactly follow how it related to the original subject.
One bit of data I can add is modern sport tires have more rubber on the ground when leaned over, than upright, due to shape.

We are heading there in just about 2 weeks...

Eirik, your brother often losing the front, don't think that's from being hard on the gas...something else is happening also.

A buddy of mine is big into dirtbikes and that's his suggestion as well. I'm probably going to use a bit of restraint and sanity this time and go for a class before I run out and buy another bike even though it's SUPER tempting. With 7 bikes an 8th might be a bit much. I'm still recovering from my insurance agent punching me in the face and running off with my wallet when I called to insure my S1000RR.
I normally agree with that approach...but dirt bikes are sick fun! I have a KX-250 (2-stroke), I've only ridden few times but I pretty much giggle like a little girl when I do. You can get all kinds of older dirt bikes for not so much money---course with all those bikes, you might have to jump it in to the garage.

What do the race tire reps suggest for these at the track?
CF

He very likely might...I don't know those tires well, so no comment
.
When you say lower than recommended, what have been the recommended pressures?
Anyone else up here running them? You could put the question up in the tires section, see what Steve has to say.

Hi Rchase,
Pretty much every world champ trains in the dirt in the off season, and this has been the norm for years.
I find it stupid fun, have had a blast every time I've gone. Some go to schools, some just ride with friends. Done very little of both, and great fun, and helps one's pavement skills.
There is the obvious suggestion, but I'll add it hear anyway: all the gear, all time. I had a low speed fall (like 7mph) that would for sure have been a broken arm--as it was, just a large bruise.

A few quick bits of data:
Incidents at the school went down initially over 33%.
Also whether it would teach a newer rider bad habits, how about it teaching what he SHOULD be doing with the throttle? It one used it that way, paid attention to what it allowed him do, then could get an idea of what he should be doing.
I have had some of the coaches that brake very hard turn the ABS off, and some turn the TC off too, but most still use it.

Fitting videos, brilliant idea! I hope that does happen.

Hey Ms. Schuberth and Phactory Phil,
How about some info on the helmets and their construction: some links to info, like the wind tunnel data?
Best,

Redneck Riviera...that's a new one for me, but I did laugh out loud. The aerodynamics thing...I need to leave that alone.

Hi Lu,
Yes we can change tires, and also you can get some help with your suspension too. Best thing to do is if you want to take advantage of our student tire deal, let us know the size, to make sure we have it on hand (usually do for modern sport bikes). Then have our mechanic change it for you (slight fee per tire).
Regarding suspension, go over and see the chief mechanic Will, he can give you some suggestions and make adjustments also. If that gets extensive, you can work something out with him.

They do have a way to have them record them all Rainman...my kids could help you with this if need be.
As the Brits would say, taking the _iss out of you!

A follow up question on this: regarding fit, I've had a much tougher time than most of my coaches, seems my head is much longer front to back, and you comment on this. We did in the end get it to work, and one thing that surprised me on this was how much it broke in...it was more than expected.
If a person is having a difficult time with fitting, what are the options with you? I'm sure far and away would be seeing you in person. If that isn't feasible, is there some other option with you, to do remotely?

Thanks Phil, that gives some good rules of thumb.
What might be a silly question, but at the top it says "to the OP". What's OP?

Guys...I see the generic informal use term didn't cut the mustard.
OK smarty pants, what do you want us to call this?

Checking with Sarah and Phil, I know both were traveling--for sure like to get some solid info on this (and a few other questions I've got).

I was just looking at my photo, and I think I should add a Schuberth patch to that "helmet" waddayathink?
-
I'll be very interested on this too...my fittings with them have been different than I thought, and the break in was more than I expected.
-
Good question, one I'd like to know the answer to. We have had some weird problem with getting Sarah able to post consistently, working on that now, so hope to hear from Sarah or Phil on this.

Have a look at our new section, I'm really pretty excited to have these 2 up on the forum.
Talked to them both a bit about helmets, pretty impressed with what they know.
Very friendly, shoot them your questions.

Hello Forum Members,
I want to welcome Sarah and Phil from Schuberth.
Many of you know how much we like the helmets, and we'll go into more detail on that. I wanted to establish their own section, so they can get to all your helmet questions and create a resource of information. We really have looked for experts knowledgeable in their areas, and these 2 certainly are.
Please welcome them, and see if there is a helmet question they can't answer! I'm sorta putting them on the spot
.

Does setting the geometry etc for quicker turn in result in more tire wear?
Not sure this was answered, and I don't know why it would. It would depend a bit on the rider and how he/she rode. With more weight on the front, and if the rider steered quicker, could be back on the gas sooner. If aggressive with the throttle, there would be more rear wear. We had a guy that used to like his bike set up like this, and made it work well.

Hey Tunnel,
We are having a shortage, which I found astonishing...free track time!
