  1. Hi Crash, The point has been covered with some different views for sure. We have had fairly new riders, but as was pointed out earlier, attention on shifting or the other control actions of the bike--if they are still putting a lot of attention on them, then more experience would be needed (small dirt bikes can help with this too). Another point on if the student is "ready" or not. My wife came to the school and has done it 4 times. When I asked her initially about the other riders, they didn't bother her at all, but for some other riders going around can be distracting. If you did decide to bring her, and could swing it, the 2-day camp is the easiest step into this kind of riding, and some tracks can be a little better than others for this. For example, the Vegas infield course can get a litte cozy at times. Good idea on being in different groups, know what you mean! Best, CF
  2. Hi Gary, For sure the skills will transfer, very well in fact. There are pluses and minuses both ways: for some riding our bikes makes it very easy, and they don't have to worry about our bikes at all. Its also a very long day, you'll be worn out. For others, they REALLY want to practice on their bikes. Best thing to touch base with the office regarding availability, some dates are selling or sold out already. Best, Cobie
  3. Hi Brian, Laguna is a government facility, I think you have to set up your camping in advance, just contact Laguna Seca directly. We will be bringing out trucks in the night before, but we normally have to wait until they are done at the track say 5pm or so. Best, CF
  4. Hi Luis, J/rod had some suggestions, not familiar with setting the bike up that way w/out the rider, we normally do it with the rider on the bike. For sure agree do the springs before you do the damping, as it could change a lot. We certainly have had guys going quite well at the school, but it for sure is a learning day, as opposed to an open track day. I think youtube has our bike suspension set up on it, you could try there, this should be the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBlqVx4mWUw...PL&index=12 Best, CF
  5. Dude that's is ancient history, and there are very few witnesses to this, so did it really happen? CF
  6. Tom, All the bikes are fully loaded, so yes on both (ABS/DTC). I think you might get a suggestion on which mode to start with, but will have some leeway. Stay in communication with your coach for specifics, he might have a specific suggestion based on what he sees. CF
  7. Excellent, come say hello when you get there! CF
  8. R- Not a physics guy, but think of it in terms of load/weight. If you exceed the weight/load the tire can handle, it will push. CF
  9. Backing it in was a bit of a fad a few years ago, but not much of that happening now in road racing. I think it takes a bit of attention off of aspects that are more important, like maybe front wheel traction at turn in, and also how quickly can you turn a bike in if you are backing it in. Not at area I'm expert at, haven't done any Supermoto to speak of. CF
  10. Excellent Tom, look forward to meeting you. I have 2, 9 (girl) 14, (boy). She is more interested in riding than he is! CF
  11. Hi Scatter, This aspect of the shoulders has a few pieces to it: for one, how is the lower body being anchored, this can have a huge effect on where the upper body ends up. One point Bullet was going for was. if the shoulders are not into the turn a bit, then will this make it harder to look into the turn? This can be a bit hard to describe clearly, and in fact we spend a bit of time on this very subject, in virtually all the levels. Have you done any of the schools at this point? We might be able to connect it to what you got trained in there. CF
  12. We don't have any women specific suits, but haven't had any real issues so far---granted, won't look like a fashion show though CF
  13. Hi Eric, Best bet for weather would be to come to the Streets of Willow Springs in Mar/April--great track, its in the desert, virtually never rains there (been going there since 1982). Some of those dates are already sold out, or close to it, so best to contact the office asap on that, just check on the dates you are thinking of, they can tell you where they stand. We have one low bike, the F800S, with a lowered seat, that's one option. We can lower one of the S1000's, just haven't gotten to that yet. Again, when you contact the office, let them know, so we can work that out, get her assigned to that low bike. Best, Cobie ps--here is the contact info: 800-530-3350 or Whitney@superbikeschool.com
  14. Hi Nic, For sure you will be able to get some good advice on your bike, and what/how to set it up. The material in the level 1 class will also show you how to get a consistent result from the bike, so you won't chase your tail with suspension changes. Best, CF
  15. JW, Sound advice mate, you should post more CF
  16. Tom, I think you are a better salesman than I am! Well, I haven't gone that long with out getting some toys, so 15 years is a long time to wait--have kids? Back on topic - you are going to get spoiled at the track in a big hurry. Palomar/Crest/Rock Store is fun, but the track is a whole different animal . Let me know how you like the guys at Escondido, like to know about the local dealers. Come say hello when you get to the track. Best, CF
  17. Any specifics on how that is going to be capped? Maybe I better get up on MCN, see what's up.
  18. It really hasn't been much of an issue, with a good base line set up. Could be a little more if we had a rider really extreme in one end or other, very light, or very heavy, but most do fall in the middle. I didn't hear one comment at the dealer day from any of the coches, and we probably an 80-90 diff in weights from lightest to heaviest coach. CF
  19. That guy seems to run hot or cold. But, lets give him a few tests and races, see how he settles down with the team and bike. CF
  20. You have done Level 2, what do you think? CF
  21. I paid about $500. It's basically brand new w/o tags and this model comes with a back protector Might consider getting a hard back protector, some clubs require one and certainly as you level up you will need one. It was like seat belts for me--never used one, till I was requried to, now feel naked w/out the belt (or back protector) on. CF
