  1. Thanks Domina, It is Sunday night late. Just got back from Jennings GP. It was a beautiful day and I ran some personal best times.
  2. Domina, I need someone to do tomorrows count down for me. I will be at Jennings GP for a Sunday track event with my friends and will not have access to a computer....It is important.
  3. Murf, It is a good idea to check all your suspension settings and record them in a log book so that you can see where you are and where you are going. Have you set the sag on your bike? What is it? Anyway, good luck on your settings.
  4. These guys are right about holding on to the bars but if you are completely relaxed and having to make steering adjustments in the corner, I would look at a couple of things. 1) Is this happening on all corners? 2) Is your suspension set up correctly? What type of bike do you ride? If you are riding a street bike with stock suspension then I would say your suspension is probably to soft. Or if you bought a track bike from a smaller guy your suspension may not be right. Too much rebound to quickly in mid corner as you apply throttle can lengthen the rake of your bike and push you out at exit. I had this same problem and experimented with my suspension as recommended by a California suspension tuner. I used couple of track day sessions to check suspension set up...I had a fellow rider in another group standing by in pit lane with the required wrenches to make adjustments so I could immediately get feedback. But, I think it would be smart to get someone at a track session that knows suspensions to take a look at your bike. Or if you do another CSS school and use your own bike, Check with Will.
  5. I knew when I started the count down that certain responsibilities came with the job. This count down is to important to be left to those not up to the task. The baton was passed and I must keep going till the end. Just think of the names of those who rode Laguna Seca before us. Some of the most important names in racing history have been on this track. There are new tracks that are really nice to ride but there is no history. California was the epicenter of road racing in America.
  6. Seems that we think alike What's the tax on $8.98? That includes tax....
  7. Hey JayBird, This was a really good question, almost Zen like. So Grasshopper, why would you think the better you get the less money you spend. Why can't you distinguish the difference between more consistency, getting better, and getting lazy? "getting lazy" to me means failing to commit to spending more capital to break riding barriers. When I first started riding sport bikes, I was spending a lot of money! Over $10, kinda like AIG. As I improved I spent less. But had I been happy with the current amount I spent, then improvemnt would not have occurred. Continous improvement takes investment. Going to the track and spending $7 everytime you go means you are "comfortable" spending that amount of money. If you could spend another dollar to break a personal barrier would it be money well spent? If spending another dollar puts you out of your comfort zone but you improve is it worth it? Just don't spend it all, maybe $8.98.
  8. We don't want to mess with Fossils' groove. You would think...but they keep doing it. Next thing you know someone will be counting down days to Christmas. They just don't get it. We are talking about Laguna Seca here. Updated count down in a.m. Nineteen Days

  10. It would be really nice if the Willow Springs group would start their on count down page......Have fun JayBird!
  11. Thanks Domina for helping out. The responsibility of the count down has been taking a toll on me.
  12. You are so right JayBird! I hadn't thought of that. I think most people intuitively try to keep their bodies centered over an object when turning. But like Keith Code says, what one does on a motorcycle in many cases is counter intuitive.
  13. I had one other thought...go to the CSS homepage and look under the pictures section...there are some great pictures of coaches with students that have great body position. The one I really like is "Coach following student, taking notes". I don't know who that coach was but position is fantastic...maybe Pete.
  14. Hey Nobody, I forget the terminology but there was a drill in level 1 for turning, maybe counter steer or something like that. This was the very first drill you would have taken. Anyway, most of us who never had formal training had a tendancy to try and counter balance our weight from one side to another depending on which way we turn. I was doing this. When I wanted to turn right I would push the right bar forward but transfered my weight back over the center of the bike. So, I was shifting my weight unconciously away from the turn, keeping the center of gravity over the bike...but this is something that usually occurs when turning in either direction so if you are having trouble turning right you probably doing the same thing in left hand turns. I am sure the Guru's can explain it to you. I only ride on the track but this is how I approach a right hand turn...I have my butt positioned half on and half off the seat toward the right side before I get to the turn. I set my speed for the turn by down shifting and braking before I reach the turn point. When I reach the turn point I then push forward (this is very quick, snap!) with my right arm to get the desired lean angle and drop my right side down so that my head is resting in the "V" of my right elbow, this transfers the weight to the inside and to the front of the bike. JayBird is right in that you should be looking into the turn, then to the apex, then the exit. Don't just look with your eyes or turn your head but move your head and upper body into the turn. Think back to your Level 1 class and try to remember the turn drill. That drill is the primary set up drill for any turning maneuver you will ever do on the street or on the track. I forgot one thing...Get The Twist books and review what you covered in class.
  15. Thats real funny.... Ladies and Gentlemen, Twenty Three Days
  16. Twenty Four Days and a wake up I was just kidding about interrupting the count down......
  17. I was just wondering if you have SS braided or carboline brake lines? Less sponge more braking for less pressure. I broke down and bought a Brembo master cylinder for my CBR1000RR..no problem with the blip
  18. There was one on there that used "Disturbed" as sound track and it was great..but sadly they didn't have permission to use it so the music was disabled.
  19. Twenty Seven Days Twenty Six Days You remind me of myself with my hobbies/passions!!! C Hey! You're messing up my count down...but yes, I can't wait to "Twist The Wrist" at Laguna Seca. Yeah, got to mess with the students a little now and again. Turned off Hotfoot's kill switch once in the pit lane--actually, that was my evil twin that did that, yeah, that's it. Yeah, You probably let the air out of my front tire at VIR last year! It will be great to see everyone again in........................... Twenty Five Days So, this is how you get "Cornering Master" on the forum. Yes, this is how its done....now, you guys quit breaking the countdown chain. This is very important.
