  1. Wow....not bad at all. Thanks Eirik, you always put up interesting things.
  2. When your attention is diverted by things unrelated to riding?
  3. Hehe...i would love to see how the current crop of riders fare on GP bikes a decade older.
  4. OMG.....12k for the engine?? Are you sure?
  5. Do please post pictures of the bike you will convert to a track use, along with what modifications you made.I am highly interested in this matter.
  6. I have a hard time keeping a constant brake pressure (and feel) while I'm blipping the throttle. It's a work in progress. I find using three fingers on the lever gives me a more consistent blip without upsetting the bike than two fingers.Guess more fingers mean more control for me?
  7. The helmet is a good fit....i don't suppose it is a fault with the helmet.
  8. I find i can shift without the clutch so smoothly it is not even discernible.I find upshifting gears 1,2 and 3 are a little more difficult to do without a bit of a jerk in the low rpm's...like 3-4k rpm range. No problem with gears 4,5,6 are absolutely smooth. In the higher RPM's, there is a bit of vibration in the bike so you can't make out the gear change in any gear. With downshifts though, i have no problem changing into any gear without the clutch. However, the lower i go the more aggressive the engine braking gets.Especially shifting into 1st and 2nd gear all the way from 6th or 5 th produces some jerking as the the engine braking is very hard and kinda sudden. Again i am on a 150 cc bike that puts out 15 hp....so i am sure those on bigger bikes will have no problems due to the speeds they could run in 1st and 2nd.
  9. Hmm....i will try different ways to sit.
  10. Yeah....and there is the task of finding the right foam.Experimenting with thickness, and making sure it doesn't compress etc etc.Not to mention, it should not compromise actual safety. If you guys could put up a picture of what you use, that would be great.
  11. Thanks for the replies. What padding did you guys use? Any specific kind of padding or the regular sponge available in the market? HF - The back protector causes no issues.
  12. Great thoughts guys.Myself - I will practice blipping and downshift without using the brakes first. Then i will lightly trail the brakes. Then, progressively get harder on them.Experimenting with grips, lever position, angles etc will help decided what is the optimum position to start at.Then, practice. No point practicing with all your might on a bad set up.
  13. Hey guys, had the bike serviced.Got the handlebars corrected. Now that i know my right hand wont hit the tank, i am more comfortable getting to full lock, though i cant do it in one smooth motion on both sides. How do i learn to get to full lock in one smooth motion? I know we aim for one steering input per turn.So how do i over come the need to make a number of " Safe " inputs rather than one " Risky " full lock steering change? I am also tensing up when i make large steering changes....kinda like i commit myself to a full lock turn, but a while into it i decide it's too much and my inside arm tenses up and i stop turning the bars. How do i sort this out? I think this also affects my countersteering - If i need say 100% input, but the midway decide some 40-50% is enough. And then i realize it is not enough and make another change to compensate for that. How do i make that full steering change without interference? Thanks
  14. When i get into a full tuck, my vision is obscured by my helmet.I use my left hand to push my helmet up a bit so as to be able to see ahead.I have a scorpion exo 700 helmet in the correct size. I hear racers put some extra padding on top to deal with this problem. What do you guys do....do you face the same problem and how do you deal with this? Thanks
  15. A seat related question for the guys - When i get into a full tuck and get my ass all the way upto the stop while in jeans, the seat punishes my nuts quite a bit as the bike goes over rippled surfaces. Is this a jeans only problem or present even when leathers are worn? Any workaround to this problem?
  16. I had the bike serviced, and got the handlebars adjusted after much haggling. The results are i can get to full lock on either side fairly easily even when negotiating traffic. I do use the screwdriver grip, and cover the front brake with two fingers while riding on the street and none while practicing. I also practice getting to the far right of a deserted private road, getting upto say 25 mph and turning as quickly as i can and keeping the turn till i reach the far left side of the road, then turn right and then again left and so on.You could say i am doing a slalom. The bike turns more easily now, but i want to be able to go hard left right left right like they do in chicanes.I will work on steering for now and then add body position etc. Thanks guys
  17. Are you saying it is because my throttle hand is close to the tank, i subconciously don't want it to hit the tank and therefore cant get myself to full lock on the right side?
  18. Hey guys, 's I have been doing some experiments with steering at full lock - U turns and figure 8's.I find i am more comfortable taking left turns, and going to full lock sooner on the left side.I run wider on the right turns, and can't bring myself to go to full lock on the right side. How do i overcome this?
  19. Hehe....i remember Lorenzo once mentioned he doesn't fully understand how an engine works, but that he can " FEEL " what the bike is doing. Many other riders cite being able to feel what the bike is doing and explaining that to be a highly important skill.
  20. Thanks Eirik , this was the video i think. There was another video about 10 mins long also, not sure if it was a repeat of this.
  21. Thanks Benny, Troy Corser mentioned the idea about maintaining pressure on the outside bar in a YT video i saw.I remember he was promoting the S1000RR and was teaching at a track day.He provided some insights on body position also if i recall.
  22. Firery Bot - I will get back to you with some pics.Sorry for the late reply.
  23. Sorry for the late reply.I will be out tomorrow trying out various things and post my findings here along with pictures if i can manage. HF - I steer the bike by pushing on the inside bar to initiate the turn.
