  1. Hey Team, My first ever ride day and @ Phillip Island! I would apprecite some comments on BP. I picked a few already but i'll come here for some honest opinions. I'm not off the seat enough, my head and shoulders could move out a bit more, prob if my arse came off the seat more head and shoulders would drop a bit more. outside leg isn't on the ball of the foot, knee not into the tank lip, anyway thatll do from me. Oz
  2. Hey team, just a quick one can anyone point me in the right direction for a decent set of rearsets? not too sure on what types are available. thanks
  3. Yeh Cobie, I think it would be a great idea as my knowledge of tyres isnt really flash. Because they're the most important things between me and the tarmac i'd like to know more!! Dylan
  4. thanks bullet, After re-reading what I wrote I've even confused myself, I'm @ the track today so I will hopefully catch up with adam, hi adam, and hit him up for some help....I'm hitting the books so I don't sound stupid again...hopefully ill get a decent pic for bp comments Thanks again for your help...hope your shoulder healing well Dylan
  5. Hey guys, I feel a bit stupid asking this question, I've just finished reading TOTW & TOTW2, one straight after the other. It has cleared up my original post on countersteering and a few others to boot so I'm putting this to practice @ phillip island on monday. I read the part on pivot steering and that was an eye opener. I had thought that you would pressure the inside peg when turningputting more pressure on the rear, makes sense now that I read it . However I was coming back from the great ocean road and it was extremely windy pushing me all over the place and I found that countersteering and pressuring the inside peg in the direction of the wind would keep me straight, when I used the outside peg the bike stood upright and the wind would push me across 3 lanes? Now I'm not sure if this is the same thing as none of the book covers windy conditons as a 'product or sub product'. How do we approach windy conditions with gust etc go faster? Cheers Dylan (ozfireblade)
  6. Well I think courage is when you do something your scared or fearful of. So if you have the skill and you dont get scared then I"d say skilled, but to do something new on a new bike that might go pear shaped then I'd say courage! But if your a squid like me than it a big set of balls all the way!!!
  7. Hi Coby, At the moment Im just doing level 1 but if I can convince the minister of war and finance(wife) Im doing 2 days!!! Im already putting things into practice from the forum and like you guys say the smoother it is the faster more confident you become...makes it harder to get off the bike than before.
  8. Hey Adam, Thanks for the welcome look forward to saying hi on the 21st.
  9. I have a picture ? I dont have any freinds to take one will get one from my ride day and post that so you guys can 'correct' my BP . Cheers
  10. Dear Ozfireblade, At CSS level one , they'll tell you that if you keep pushing the bar when countersteering, you will eventually put the bike on its side. Which is not what you want. If you were to push the bar, set the lean angle, keep constant speed, then take your hands off the bar, if you had enough room you'd just do one big giant circle, of course assuming that the throttle position was set constant (bit hard with no hands.) The lean angle would remain constant without any further steering input. You may think you're pushing that bar to countersteer like mad, but your survival reactions are subconsciously getting you to resist by the same amount on the other bar! Becoming aware of countersteering allows you to properly control the lean angle of the bike. You are already doing it, as others have said, because this is how motorcycles and pushbikes turn. Practice it, drill it and use it, especially during "stressful situations" and you will have a new level of control over the bike. Good luck! db Thanks again guys, I've gone back to the basics and started getting that right before I worry about the other stuff..Who'd have thought learn to walk before you run . TOTW 1 and 2 already on the way so lets hope this helps..Im learning heaps of stuff from the forums alone so thanks guys. Great topics !!!! oz
  11. It is possible to be hanging off in a way that makes it harder to get the knee down. Are you right up against the gas tank and sorta rotating around it to get in your hang off position? Not too sure I'm a fist away from the tank and hang one cheek off, maybe further back off more? I dont think Im rotating around (just moved states so no riding buddies at the moment) so im not sure if Im turning my knee back into the tank. Im on the ball of the inside foot, on the peg. Shoulders dropped, head out and around looking into the turn. Im not too bothered about the knee down Id rather be faster and safer, just reckon its a waste of a pair of sliders I reckon!!Im sure a few track days and the school will sort me out. Thnanks for the help
  12. Hi Guys, I've been going around out of the way roundabouts trying to sort out body and head position for corners and I find the more i drop my shoulder and move my head around the screen the more twisted and out of place I feel I become. plus I think the roundabout may be a tad small, speeds around 50 km/h round the roundabout, I have about 3 mils of rubber on the rear to scrub away, and about 10 mil on the front, countersteering problem?. My knee still wont get down and Im wondering if my short little legs might be the problem. Im off the bike to the point my groin starts hurting. any advice? Thanks
  13. Thanks Bullet, With the amount of info on the net and trying to decipher the differences of opinion, thought I'd go straight to the experts, thanks for the help.
  14. Hi Guys, Im new to the forum, from Australia, and just thought I'd say hi. I'm doing CSS in late Oct this year, but first I'm doing a ride day in a couple of weeks. I have one quick question..... when coutersteerin do you continue the push the whole way through the corner to the apex or get on the inside peg a bit more? just want to get it right in my head before my first ride day @ Phillip Island... Cheers
